Republican Voter Suppression Efforts

She said people in rural areas don't have ready access to copying machines to copy their ID. Where's the lie?

If Twitter existed before the Voting Rights Act, jhmd would have gladly tweeted "Lyndon Johnson doesn't think Black people can count jellybeans in a jar."

Never miss an opportunity to infantilize your fellow citizens, do you?

People don't need to photocopy their IDs to vote. They can just vote.

If they did, they wouldn't be "denied access" in rural counties because of the absence of Kinkos locations anymore than they're "denied access" to movies because of the absence of Blockbuster locations. Because it isn't 1988 anymore, dummy.

Democratic members of the Texas State House of Representatives are leaving the state to deny a quorum so the Republicans can't pass any legislation limiting voting during the current special session. Many went to Washington, DC to lobby for national voting rights legislation.

Hopefully they divide up and then go take a collective shit in the offices of Senators Manchin and Sinema.

John Cornyn (unironically) remarked to the news by saying "It's not very Texan.....you stay and fight, you don't run away".....Ted Cruz's frequent flyer miles would beg to differ, John.

They should be lobbying for more Kinkos!!!

But there's nothing wrong with this GA state law, the National Review says so!

Good article. I especially liked this line:

"Would you decline to support a For the Chickens Act solely because the foxes refused to sign on?"

The best way for Democrats to help white voters who choose racism over public infrastructure, healthcare, etc is to fight racism. Stop voter restrictions and empower all voters to support politicians who want to actually help people.

Isn’t this the perfect time to purge voter rolls? There is plenty of time to correct any mistakes before the next election.

This guy says that if the Texas GOP can pass their voter restriction law the GOP will pretty much be a permanent majority party in the state, and Democrats won't have a chance to ever beat them. And yet there are still people who insist with a straight face that all these Republican voter laws really are about preventing voter fraud. Right.

Democrats could stop this but they won’t.

Democrats could stop this but they won’t.

And yet if Democrats do poorly in Texas and other states with these restrictive GOP laws in 2022 and 2024 we'll get to read all of these articles where leading Democrats scratch their heads and say they just didn't see it coming - they had no idea of the effect these laws would have on the Democratic vote in those states. Same as it ever was.

Could they like, end the filibuster, pass a voting rights and gerrymandering act, then reinstate the filibuster? Would Manchin and Semmina go for that?
