what a huge pickup. just about everyone must have been after him -- he was 2nd team preseason all-big ten this year.

Obviously, NFL Scouts believe that WF RPO offense is perfect for readying OL for the NFL; so, they directed him to Winston.
 
Something of a concern is the knee injury. That limited him to four games in 2019. Before that he had been a starter since midway his true freshman season.

A UMD friend's comment: "he's good."
 
i believe he could have returned, but opted to redshirt utilizing the 4 game limit to maintain eligibility.

Yes, but Newman and Davis have some former teammates, coaches and fans who aren’t happy about their decisions.
