He's also 14 years older, has probably out earned Manning and knows he can command a similar amount tomorrow in college if he wishes. Manning's phone isn't ringing.

To be honest, he was about to be fired. It was unlikely he'd last the season out.

Leaving money on the table may be a bit of a stretch. To receive full payment, it's not unusual for that person not to coach until the end of the payment agreed upon. If Beilein wants to coach some more, he has to it quickly.

You're right. Figured his much longer career would change the math, but didn't realize just how relatively underpaid he was at Michigan.
