We could just keep DM and build an on campus arena with a capacity of 500.

Just reconfigure Wait Chapel - add room for a court on the stage, improve the lighting, build a tunnel over to the new practice facility for access to the locker rooms. It wouldn't take much.

I am too lazy to look this up but has there ever been a P5 program that has held on to a HC for 6+ years with a comparable or worse winning %?? If it has happened, I can't think of it.

I thought about this last year on a 5+ year basis. Jay John was the best example I could find. Oregon State.

Wainwright at DePaul was fired during his 5th season.

As my favorite Econ prof used to say "It depends, kiddies."

Manning is a wonderful 76 - 106 (.418) overall & 28 - 76 (.269) in ACC play.
Even if he won every game remaining in the regular season & won a game in the ACC tourney, he'd be at .439 overall and .313 in ACC play.
Adding in his time at Tulsa (aka the work that made him worthy of an ACC job) and he is still roughly 20 games under .500 overall and about 40 games under .500 in conference play.

It's amazing that WF could go undefeated in the ACC for the remainder of this season plus the next two seasons and would still be under .500 in ACC play. And this is the guy that is reportedly "making progress."

I'm sure this might not really be an option, but could we make Danny the big man's coach and then bring in a real HC???? That way you at least get something for the $ and hopefully help our big man recruiting and overall recruiting if we can bring in a great HC along with some other assistants? Then if Danny doesn't like being 2nd on the bench he can quit and we avoid payout?

With the amount we are paying I would hope we would have the ability to hire an Exec. coach to put him over the program, but that might be a hard one for a new coach to deal with Danny boy whining and moaning if he isn't happy.

Only idea worse than this would be hiring WFU22 to represent you in a legal case.

i kind of feel like State has to be in this conversation

we need something smaller based on what i have seen lately

Wake did a dog and pony show to keep him last year and he has sucked again. I see no way he keeps his job.

Jay John .426 and .292 was fired during his sixth season. Oregon State has higher standards than we do.

If he's not fired, the little flickering flame of my interest in Wake hoops, and Wake anything, will be extinguished.

20-11 w/Corchiani, Monroe, and Gugliotta. Even Kevin Thompson got an NBA look. The new ACC tournament round was called the Les Robinson invitational. If he hadn't inherited those players he would not have lasted so long. Don't know of anything called the Danny Manning cellar-dwelling club though.

Most of those tunnels are already in place.
