No good people work for him. No one got somehow wrapped up in all this when they’re just trying to do what’s best for the American people.

Most of the people who work for Trump (and especially those appointed in the past couple of years) wouldn't sniff a similar job in any other presidential administration, including even George W. Bush. One of Trump's issues is that he hasn't been able to get much top-flight talent to work for him (who would?), so he's stuck appointing third-raters, grifters, incompetents, and right-wing conspiracy nutcases. Trump doesn't care, as he seems to see his aides as personal servants who are easily fired and replaced, as no doubt he did the same for decades with his corporate staff. The primary function of a Trump aide or cabinet secretary isn't to do your assigned job well, it's to constantly suck up to the boss and tell him what a brilliant man he is and to carry out his personal whims, whether they're legal or not. It's like a mafia operation, but with even less-talented people.
 
They've been pushing and shoving to "run the government like a business" for so long that they've finally got it down to the level of a cheap furniture store that's always having a "Going Out Of Business" Sale.
