Stock Market Crash

On February 12 the Stock Market stood at 29,551. Today, one month later, it closed at 21,181. When Trump took office in January 2017 it was just a shade under 20,000.

The best thing Trump can do for the market at this point is exactly what he’s not doing: introducing a well thought out, coordinated national plan for ramping up testing, introducing containment policies and having well-defined contingency plans. The Fed has made two drastic moves in the last week which resulted in a grand total of like 30 minutes of reprieve in trading losses because investors don’t believe Trump has a real plan. And obviously they are probably right.

He does have a real plan. Blame the Europeans.

Even the things the Republicans care about are falling apart. They sacrifice basic values and the public good for the god of the stock market and their god is failing them.

Trump also promised that all co-pays for Corona treatment would be waived. The truth is only the test co-pays would be waived.

This is dangerous idiocy. Anyone who can vote for this racist moron is a disgrace.

Yeah CNBC spent half an hour talking about this a couple days ago. Said that we need leadership, any leadership, from anyone in the administration but that there’s no real hope for that.

Each of those drops happened during Republican administrations. Republicans only care about money and they can't even do that right.

It's so bad that the White House is calling CNBC for leadership.

Don’t worry, this guy’s in charge...

How many presidents have not been able to say that though? The Dow Jones steadily and consistently goes up over almost any 4 year period.

That's true, but my guess is he brags about it because he knows that many of his fans don't know that. Bragging about the soaring stock market was another way to promote himself as Superman to his base. It looks like that bragging may end for awhile.

I wonder about that. Sure he has a rube base who may not know these things, but many Trump followers made a ton of money off the stock market through the Obama era gains. Do they just not realize that or do they pretend it didn't happen? I don't know.

Sure the pandemic is the root cause here, but part of the reason for the panicked sell off is that Wall Street has zero confidence in our inept leadership to deal with the pandemic.

That’s just, like, your opinion, man.
