Reported by WXII: No fall sports in the CIAA, including football.

I’ll be very surprised if there’s a college football season. Conference only games is the latest adjustment, but when there are outbreaks on multiple teams in August, it will get cancelled. Really sad.

The Ivies were ahead of the curve when the shutdown basketball before everyone else. If the pandemic allows IVY sports to return in January, will be interesting to see how schools pull off trying to play all of their sports in the January to May window. Facilities and Field space are limited at a lot of schools, particularly urban campuses, such that the Lacrosse team uses the same field and as the Men's and Women's Soccer team, Field Hockey team etc. COVID sucks.

Presumably they believe in science.

With each passing day the news gets worse.... we're headed towards no fall sports at all guys. :tear:

Let's see what the new year brings. 2020 blows.

At this point I’ve written off the rest of 2020 and am just wondering how much of 2021 we’ll have to sacrifice.

This ain't good. The ACC just cancelled their now virtual operation acc football that was scheduled for next week.

Virtual ACC Football Kickoff Postponed

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – The Atlantic Coast Conference has postponed its virtual ACC Football Kickoff media event until further notice. The event was originally scheduled to be held July 21-23, 2020. Any future decisions and announcements will take place at the appropriate time.

no fall sports for the Patriot League; Army and Navy exempt (for now)

ETA: BC loses a home game vs. Holy Cross (on the way to losing the season)

Why have an ACC Football Kickoff with major changes to the schedule and structure of the game pending? Announce all the changes for the upcoming season at the kickoff and give everyone something to write about besides the speculation surrounding the pandemic.

The ACC doesn’t feel comfortable with coaches and media meeting in person to talk about football next week. They probably should just admit they don’t feel comfortable about football next month.

It was already a virtual event.

Yes, the ACC just doesn't want to be asked questions that there really aren't any definitive answers to right now. They can reschedule the virtual event when needed.

Yeah. That’s the point. It’s not like there were going to talk about virtual football.

If meeting in person is a problem now, playing on the field should be off the table.

You have to wonder if the reason Swofford talked about a stance in late July rather than quickly follow the other league’s conference only stances, is that we may skip the interim step of conference only. Just cancel the fall, and get it over with , rather than spend many hours and calls micromanaging conference only scenarios.

I'm thinking it's because he would prefer not to have to tell people that non-conference games are not as safe, except for Notre Dame, because we sure like helping Notre Dame keep that TV contract that they have

Swofford is an idiot. Got Notre Dame by the balls to force them in the conference or get the fuck out. How hard is it to say if you want thus abbreviated shit show idea, you gonna have to join. If they don't...go twist in the wind.

Seeing that 3 people tested positive on campus. Not identifying whether or not they are athletes but are any other students on campus?
