School Talk

Besides the weirdness for students of watching a dead guy give lectures (students in a 200-person lecture aren't getting much office hours face time as it is, so not sure how much that should be a concern), the intellectual property issues are interesting: faculty are supposed to own the rights to their lectures unless they sign them away, which it appears the guy had done. My guess is that the University owns the complete rights to the course and can use it however they please, regardless of how disconcerting the dead guy teaching thing is.

That kind of thing is pretty typical and something universities are encouraging. We have a retiring faculty member who did something similar with his popular online course. The difference is we will have a grad student who specializes in that field managing the course.
