Covid-19 - Treatments & Vaccines

Rogan's take is especially nefarious because he got legitimate monoclonal antibody treatment, which actually does legitimately work, along with Ivermectin and probably a half dozen other crackpot remedies, allowing his bro tough guy followers to just select whatever confirmation bias they prefer.

After all his blustering about natural resistance he should have rolled the dice sans treatment of any kind. But he's full of shit.

Much of his bro tough guy following are other "comedians" like Brendan Schaub who hasn't taken Rogan's schlong out of his mouth in years. I can't wait to see Schaub's take on Rogan's covid situation. Absolute shit for brains that guy. Mouth breather poster boy

waning immunity? not so fast, my friend...

taking ivermectin for covid or any other virus is like pouring motor oil into your asshole to get rid of a headache.

It’s more like meditating to try and get rid of a headache.

It's not like that at all. Meditating has many measurable effects, such as lowering blood pressure. High blood pressure can cause and worsen headaches. So meditation for headache has biologic plausibility. Ivermectin for covid does not, as ivermectin is an anti-parasitic and not designed to treat viruses. This is one of the many reasons that experts see no reason to take ivermectin or spend a lot of time/money focused on studying it for covid.

An interesting study was published in JAMA this week. They looked at COVID antibodies in blood donors from July 2020 to May 2021. My main takeaways were that the current prevalence of antibodies (from previous infection or vaccination) is 83% in the US, and based on their data they estimate that about twice as many covid infections have occurred compared to how many have been documented (some had estimated this was higher). It is important to note, however, that the blood donor population is different from the US population, for many reasons (a big one being no children).

According to multiple reports following the Trump event in Cullman, Alabama, at least five schools in the area decided to close their doors for in-person teaching and switch to virtual learning following the serious increase of Covid-19 cases among students and school staff just days after the Trump event.

In an official statement last Wednesday, Cullman County school district confirmed that almost one third of the students were infected with the virus or have been sent to quarantine as a result of a close contact with someone infected.

Cullman is a fairly large county for Alabama with over 87,000 people.

Geez.

McElyea said many of his patients were familiar with the drug. "Growing up in a small town, rural area, we've all accidentally been exposed to ivermectin at some time. So, it's something people are familiar with," he said. "Because of those accidental sticks when trying to inoculate cattle, they're less afraid of it."

But McElyea said he'd seen people suffering from the ramifications of taking doses meant for a full-sized horse, including instances of vision loss, nausea, and vomiting.

"Some people taking inappropriate doses have actually put themselves in worse conditions than if they'd caught COVID," he said.

So there’s actually gun violence in rural Oklahoma? Based on these boards, you’d think it was only in Chicago.

More ignorance in Florida.

[h=1]Polk Co. commissioner drafts letter asking Gov. DeSantis to make ivermectin widely available[/h]https://www.wfla.com/news/polk-county/polk-co-commissioner-drafts-letter-asking-gov-desantis-to-make-ivermectin-widely-available/

POLK COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) – Polk County commissioners are set to vote Tuesday on whether or not to send a letter to Gov. Ron DeSantis that would ask him to make drugs, such as ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine, widely available to residents in hopes of providing what one commissioner calls possible live-saving therapeutics against COVID-19.
8 On Your Side obtained a draft of the letter, written by Commissioner Neil Combee, Friday afternoon. It states, in part, “We are hearing from many of our citizens that larger hospital chains and some pharmacies are refusing to prescribe safe and effective therapeutics like hydroxychloroquine and ivermectin… When a citizen is facing a potentially life-threatening case of COVID-19, he or she should receive the ‘right to try’ potentially life-saving therapeutics.”
The letter refers to ivermectin as a “wonder drug” and says without readily available access to alternative treatments, “patients are literally being left to die.” It also praises the governor for setting up monoclonal antibody testing centers as it “is literally saving lives.”

The drug, typically meant for treating and preventing parasites in animals, is not an anti-viral medication and has caused people across the nation to be hospitalized after self-treatment, according to the Federal Drug Administration.
Florida Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried also warned about the drug after a recent spike in poisonings reported across the state.
“The promotion of inappropriate use of this drug is irresponsible, reckless, and dangerous,” Fried said. “There is no public health or scientific support for its use to treat or prevent COVID-19, and there are serious safety concerns when it comes to self-medicating and humans using medications intended for animals. Individuals should look to their medical doctors when it comes to medical treatments – not online quacks.”
