Covid-19 - Treatments & Vaccines

The Times: Coronavirus: Government’s Covid vaccine data ‘providing material for conspiracy theorists’

tl;dr: Anti-vaxxers, such as Joe Rogan, looking to support their confirmation bias have been quoting maddening stats from UK's Health and Security Agency. Nobody knows the true exact number of non-vaxxed citizens, and when you have low numbers, if you are off by a few percentage points, then infection percentages will be WAY OFF.

quoted in the article is an actual person named Colin Angus:

The continued presentation of the figures is very problematic,” he said. “The warning about the huge uncertainty in the unvaccinated rates should be much clearer to avoid misinterpretation, which is clearly happening, deliberate or otherwise."

What. A. Piece. Of. Shit.

Nice of him to offer to shout to her from the hallway, though.

Why do we even need doctors if we can just pray?

I'm guessing some GOP comms person wrote that response not realizing they were saying a surgeon couldn't have a conversation with a mask on.

Huge, “It’s Doctor Ladapo” correction vibes when interacting with random services strangers.

Doctors, nurses, and all sorts of healthcare workers have been communicating very effectively with masks on for the last 18 fucking months (and in the OR for DECADES). Suck it up buttercup.

lol at Angus falling for that. Doctors regularly have conversations with their patients with masks on. Even pre-pandemic.

Angus's gotcha posts in gif form.

It appears Senator Polsky's indoor mask policy has an opt-out policy as long as you are a Dem state senator:

Weird - Looks like yet another exemption from her indoor mask policy:
