Covid-19 - Treatments & Vaccines

Paxlovid is available by prescription only and should be initiated as soon as possible after diagnosis of COVID-19 and within five days of symptom onset.

You have to have a prescription to get it, and you're not getting one of those without a test. Joke's on you, WakeBored, you can't get a test because I guess someone thought we had enough. Not great, Bob.

So Republicans are now simultaneously for and against testing?

Also, if you remove your unfunny quip from the end it does poke a hole in junebug’s pro-pandemic hindsight plan. I doubt the unvaxxed folks currently dying will be lining up for testing right at the onset of their symptoms. They’ll still be in the denial/ivermectin phase.

Now instead of threatening your daughters prom date with a gun when he arrives at the house we are just forcing her to take a plan B after they fuck

Vaccines are a shot. It's as simple as could be.

Apparently it isn't quite that simple.

The Food and Drug Administration suggests it will take the agency 55 years to answer a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request for data related to the licensing of Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine. That's according to a joint court filing with both parties Monday.

These people take a lifesaving treatment for themselves and their families and then turn around and try to convince others that Covid is really not a big deal, the vaccine barely works, don’t get tested, take no precautions, etc.

Doesn’t sound like they really want life to get back to normal does it. At least not in the next 10 months.

If there aren't enough tests, Biden hasn't done enough to make sure we can test.

If there are plenty of tests, why do we need to test so much?

The lady doth project too much.

Biden “wasted his time” making a free live saving vaccine widely available. This is a real Junebug talking point.

It’s almost as if he wants the pandemic to continue so it doesn’t look like Biden gets a “win” for the midterms.

Republican strategy for political power a long time…dishonest and dishonorable obstructionism.

So the fault lies not with the people choosing not to be vaccinated and getting sick and ending up in the hospital or dying, instead it's with the people who are vaccinated, because instead of catering to these people and feeding their delusions that the vaccine is, I don't know, some sort of government program to put tracker microchips in their brains, they keep promoting the vaccines and pushing these people to get vaccinated via mandates and such. Sounds like the reasoning of Trumpites that they had no choice but to vote for Trump in 2016 because the Democrats dared to nominate Hillary. In the end, it's somehow always the fault of liberals and progressives that conservatives must suffer so. #partyofpersonalresponsibility

Pandering to and placating deplorable white rural nitwits with cognitively dissonant ideas of freedom and liberty is an intricate waltz.

Yep.

Junebug's descent into a less glib Tucker Carlson was not something I would have predicted at the beginning of 2021.

OTOH, jh showing up in conjunction with Trump leaving the WH was completely predictable.

It's cute that Junebug thinks there wouldn't be conservative backlash against treatments promoted by Biden even though there was conservative backlash against vaccines promoted by Biden.

Pubs have standards. You guys have Biden-Harris.

Covid-19 - Treatments & Vaccines

Biden's focus on prevention rather than treatment has been a real misstep, even before the hindsight gained from Omicron. Instead of ordering sufficient supplies of therapeutics, like monoclonal antibody treatment and anticipatory purchases of Paxlovid pending FDA approval, back in the fall, his administration was focused on enacting mandates. We aren't going to be able to vaccinate our way out of this considering, among other things, how quickly immunity from transmission wanes and the likelihood of additional vaccine-evading variants.

Given the contempt Biden seems to holds for the unvaccinated, it almost makes you wonder if the cruelty is the point.

Follow the science: Monoclonal doesn't work on Omicron: https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-021-03829-0

Vaccination does a great job of preventing severe illness and hospitalization for all variants so far: https://www.healthline.com/health-news/by-the-numbers-covid-19-vaccines-and-omicron

Prevention is always better than treatment. Always.

The Admin has failed on testing availability, though.
