President Trump on Friday said he's confident the general election in November won't be delayed by the coronavirus, but he rejected the idea of having every state prepare to conduct mail-in voting.

The president, speaking at the daily White House briefing on the pandemic, made clear he does not support using vote-by-mail as a backstop in the event the outbreak keeps people from going to the polls.

"No, because I think a lot of people cheat with mail-in voting," said Trump, who has levied baseless accusations about voter fraud that he claims kept him from winning the popular vote in 2016. "I think people should vote with ID, voter ID. I think voter ID is very important, and the reason they don't want voter ID is because they intend to cheat."

It shouldn't be mail-in voting," he added. "It should be you go to a booth and you proudly display yourself. You don't send it in the mail where people can pick up - all sorts of bad things can happen ... by the time it gets in and is tabulated."

Trump apologists...do you still sincerely think he gives a shit about your well being?

If yes, please show us examples of “all sorts of bad things” that can happen with mail in voting

Besides the rampant mail-in ballot fraud in NC?

Oh that’s right. In support of the GOP candidate right?

Not to mention all the vote harvesting that was done by the Dems in California in 2018 [same exact thing that was done in the one NC House vote except we call it illegal here and CA does not]

And yet I just read that Trump himself votes via absentee ballot, and requested an absentee ballot to vote in the Florida presidential primary. Some lives (and votes) are just more valuable than others, I guess.

While Ryan’s comments indicate Republicans outside California were caught off guard by the practice, those inside the state said they were not surprised and some even commended Democrats.

“To say we were caught flat-footed by this is just not true,” California GOP spokesman Matt Fleming told Fox News. “We were well aware of this, we even did it ourselves, we pay attention to election laws.”

Dale Neugebauer, a veteran Republican consultant, told the Chronicle that Democrats used the practice in a “thorough and disciplined” ground game.

“Absolutely, ballot harvesting played a very significant role,” Neugebauer told the Chronicle, adding that “I have a little bit of professional admiration for how well the Democrats executed their plan.”

That seems a little different than what Republicans were doing in NC when they were throwing out Dem ballots and forging documents.

Nonsense. Everyone knows that the only reason Trump lost the popular vote was because of those millions and millions of illegal immigrants and vote fraud in California.

Middle English (as a heraldic term): from Old French, literally ‘crawling’, present participle of ramper (see ramp). From the original use describing a wild animal arose the sense ‘fierce’, whence the current notion of ‘unrestrained’.

Also the mascot of J.H. Rose High School in Greenville, NC.

Tell me more about the unrestrained mail-in ballot fraud in NC that spread unchecked like a wild animal that occurred in two counties out of one hundred.

Top Republican fundraiser and Trump ally named postmaster general, giving president new influence over Postal Service

A top donor to President Trump and the Republican National Committee will be named the new head of the Postal Service, putting a top ally of the president in charge of an agency where Trump has long pressed for major changes in how it handles its business.
The Postal Service’s board of governors confirmed late Wednesday that Louis DeJoy, a North Carolina businessman who is currently in charge of fundraising for the Republican National Convention in Charlotte, will serve as the new postmaster general.
The action will install a stalwart Trump ally to lead the Postal Service, which he has railed against for years, and probably move him closer than ever before to forcing the service to renegotiate its terms with companies and its own union workforce. Trump’s Treasury Department and the Postal Service are in the midst of a negotiation over a $10 billion line of credit approved as part of coronavirus legislation in March.

I glossed over this news initially. Before Trump, it would have been your typical political appointment.

Post Trump, the timing of this move is very suspicious. Handing over management of the post office (likely the main vehicle to cast ballots this November) to a Trump crony is incredibly concerning.

He's not going to cheat. It would simply be an honest mistake that all the vote at home ballots will be delivered to a home in Alabama.
