Getting America Back to Work - Weigh In

Has anyone seen any articles from actual media sources say something like “three Whites carrying large firearms?”

PRIORITIES!

This guns at protests/armed escort shit is going to end terribly. We are one trigger happy jobless redneck away...

Our lives have been in a constant state of that far away for a long time

The other piece that doesn't seem to be getting enough discussion is that working class folks can't afford a stay in the ICU. If you're a part-time clerk at a sporting goods store, and you get a bill for 2 week stay in the ICU, you'll probably never recover from that financially. There are such significant risks for the people that the elites are demanding go back to work.

I believe the feds will cover all covid related expenses for uninsured patients in the hospital. And those with insurance will largely have their cost share waived by insurers. So hopefully this won’t be a problem and thus why it’s not being discussed.

As someone in a year long (and counting) fight with United Healthcare over a trip to the ER where the hospital was in-network, but none of the doctors who handled my chart (and I never even saw) were not, excuse me if I’m skeptical of the costs associated with our current healthcare system.

Surprise billing is an issue that will hopefully get a legislative fix soon (has bipartisan and industry support). So I understand that issue. Just need to get rid of the VC PAC money trying to defeat it. Happy to review this issue more.

Just responding to the OP that there are regulatory and legislative changes that eliminate the issue that was raised. That’s just a fact.

So...if you need ICU care today, ya better hope it’s for Covid-19...?

Great.

Do they pay up front or do you have to file paperwork and wait six months for some sort of COVID waver?

Great.

Just cough a lot. But sir, the bone is sticking right out of the skin. <cough cough> secondary. Its covid. I was coughing and...uh... fell.

A friend of mine works in a well known office where higher ups refuse to wear masks and take precautions. Coronavirus is starting to make its way through his office and he doesn’t want to get sick.

Upper management is getting very mad at the people who have been getting sick.

What should he do?

You have to file a claim (as you would for any service). Im not on the provider side so not sure how long it takes. Most payers have committed to paying claims very quickly to help ease the burden. But its a mess right now for sure.

CMS also ended sequestration cuts from May to Dec which will increase medicare reimbursement for all services.

If they won’t allow him to work from home (or can’t) I’d suggest continuing to take all precautions he can (sanitizer, mask, etc.) and request that people he interacts with also do the same out of courtesy. If they won’t, document the interactions and raise the issue with HR if this continues. If it’s a big office, HR doesn’t want to deal with people getting sick and missing work anyways.

When you say upper management is getting mad at people who have been getting sick (which is absurd to start with) do you mean these are the same “higher ups” not wearing masks? If so, your friend should go to HR and mention that a great way to solve the sick issue is a) work from home if they are non-essential as thats what the government asked companies to do anyways or b) wear protective gear to prevent the spread.

And if they prevent him or retaliate against him for wearing a mask, file an OSHA complaint.

If it’s anything like my experience, they’ll first miscode the test, try to collect payment, force the patient to figure out they shouldn’t have been billed and call to complain, review the bill, and the finally correctly zero out the balance.

Make sure they didn't report it to the credit bureaus. BS medical bills constitute a ton of negative credit reporting.

This is probably more common than uncommon.
