Official Forbes' assistant coaches: McKie, Savage, Childress

assuming shay gets ETSU job, I would not mind getting an old salty been there done that X and O guy to be new assistant. Let Savage and McKie handle recruiting and let this guy draw up plays in the dirt. Think Tex Winters for a new generation. I have no idea who that guy is but that is what I envision. Actually that kind of sounds like Ernie Nestor so maybe that is not such a good idea after all.

Two articles I found on college assistant coach salaries - not sure if either are up to date on the financial numbers but decent reference points none the least.

"At Texas State University, assistant coach salaries range from $24,000 to $125,000, according to the Texas Tribune. For basketball specifically, the team's two assistant coaching salaries are $125,000, the highest in any collegiate sport, and $75,000 as of June 2011. At the University of Florida, the published salaries of assistant men's basketball coaches range from $100,000 to $235,000 annually, the Orlando Sentinel reports. The University of Maryland pays $66,440 to one assistant coach with the least amount of experience and $99,881 and $129,468 to two other assistants with more years of coaching, according to the Washington Times." - https://careertrend.com/the-average-salary-of-an-assistant-coach-in-mens-basketball-12564955.html

Assistant bb coaches make a lot of extra money with the summer camps.

Do we know that McKie is coming?

yes, he is definitely coming. He now has a picture of the quad on his twitter page and lists him as WFU assistant coach.

Forbes seems pretty well connected, so I'm sure he'll find a hot young up and comer.

The Last Dance made me rethink the Tex Winter model anyway.

Do we know that McKie is coming?

Yes. Confirmed on his Twitter bio.

I suspect the third spot on the bench may be unsettled until the status of Shay at ETSU is settled. If Shay doesn't get the ETSU head coach job, Forbes probably brings him to Wake.

I can promise you, our assistant coaches don’t make anywhere close to 200-500K.

I would expect Wake pay to be around the Maryland and Florida numbers. Probably a little higher than North Texas State.

This is what Maryland assistants made in 2016 as base pay. It's possible we pay our bball assisstants less than market and our football assistants, but that would be surprising given what we pay our head coaches (which is pretty much in-line with other major programs).

This is pretty surprising to me. This suggests they're only barely above six figures which is not really in proportion to the head coach's salary. Also, it's one thing to say they're not "anywhere close" to $200K and another thing to say they're not "anywhere close" to $500K.

Our boy Pete Lembo making a cameo up in this thread! Hope Katie is doing well.

Posted on another thread... Les Johns did a "More w/ Les" podcast w/ Coach Forbes today.

He talks a lot in the beginning about his staff.

Didn't catch the name, but it sounds like we're adding a Lithuanian former player of his to the staff... I didn't catch his name. Knows Darius Songaila.

Forbes did mention in his introduction that "international" was the fourth of his "four way" approach to recruiting at Wake. (Down from his "five way" approach at ETSU since his #3 JuCo is a no-go)
Perhaps this Lithuanian coach is the specialist for that?

Antanas Kavaliauskas

6'10"... Just retired last year. Played for Texas A&M 2005-07. 35 years old.

Pretty clear that Childress is responsible for keeping the roster together as much as possible at this point... His eventual position will depend on what happens w/ Shay at ETSU.
