Workers have cited broken air conditioners, mold in the break rooms, and little safety precautions for employees who face constant robberies and violent incidents within stores. Fear for their jobs, as pitiful as they may seem to those of us who don’t have to work them.

Because they don't have to pay overtime, benefits, they can give shitty schedules last minute making it really hard to find or get to a different job.

Also, if making $13/hour part time at a Dollar General in the middle of nowhere is the best job you can figure out how to get, then you're probably in the right job. It's probably a step up from their recent employment at Hardee's/Red Burrito or the nursing home and they may not have the skills for anything else. There's probably a Walmart closer to town but I don't know if they pay any better.
 
Poor dumb rubes don't deserve better treatment (and pay) while a select few at the top take the vast majority of the money.
 
What safety precautions can be implemented to prevent store robberies? You going to need to buzz in to Dollar general.
 
Supply chain issue = workers being ground into hamburger for the sake of efficiency while the government does nothing for them but subsidize their industry bosses and prevent the workers from striking.

I was once married to a postdoc. It's criminal how universities will string them along for cheap research labor.
