With the RNC two months away, seems like the right time to go ahead and start a separate thread for the events taking place in Charlotte and Jacksonville.

We’ve already been discussing it. There was big news released about the DNC. Doesn’t make sense to start a thread about one but not the other.

Cancelled by Trump-by his account, he's the only one on his staff that cares about people's safety. Threats to safety of the Jacksonville convention include the "China Virus" and the Portland protesters.

Brings a tear to my eye. Lil donnie is growing up. Why just the other day he gave the covid speech he should have given in march!

To recap: Cooper stuck with his decision based on expert advice and information, and then didn't take the bait when he was repeatedly attacked by Trump and his cronies. He kept mostly quiet and let the idiots running this campaign and administration make themselves look foolish and incompetent. It's almost like what Biden is doing. It's almost like Dems have figured out the best strategy is to sit back and watch Trump implode. That old saying about wrestling with pigs is appropriate here.

The RNC won't allow press. The nomination vote will be live streamed.

"An RNC official says the President is not likely to accept the nomination in Charlotte in a big public speech. If Trump goes to Charlotte, the expectation is that it will just be to thank the delegates in a private, closed press event."

They keep doing the opposite of what they need to do to win elections.

Trump pretty much ignored all the traditional rules of campaigning last time and still won. I agree that this sounds dumb and counterproductive (as well as setting a terrible precedent for the future), but I remain dubious as to how much such moves will actually hurt him until we count the votes in November. It's almost as if his supporters are thrilled every time he shatters another norm and tradition.
