Official 2020 DNC Thread - VP Kamala; speakers announced

Great post, Goon.

I’m not sure if MDMH simply has ideas and doesn’t want to compromise or if he’s simply repulsed by people who don’t share his beliefs.

Big problems get solved by people coming together and sharing their ideas to turn their ideas into better ideas. The NBA bubble is one of the best executed big ideas I’ve seen to address COVID-19. I’m sure that wasn’t just the result of Adam Silver giving his ideas and telling everyone to suck it. A lot of smart professional people got together and came up with a plan and executed it.

That’s what I want from politicians.

What if you don’t think democrats have good ideas?

This is really well said. Many ideologues are so full of hubris and purity that just cant accept something that is better unless is perfectly fits their narrative. Happens every day on the business world and those that embrace the approach tend to excel as leaders and those that don't well, they eventually crash and burn.

Health policy is one area that a compromise could actually work quite well (my thinking has evolved on this quite a bit over the past 8 years). The issue is both the hard left and the hard right think ACA is terribly flawed. But, gasp., imagine a world where a few things are modified that actually drives us to affordable (to the consumer) universal coverage? The issue is the Rs see the ACA as socialism and unless private insurers are eliminated lefty Ds go bonkers. So we are stuck with only a slightly better system than we had in 2014. Thanks hubris.

Vote Republican, Libretarian, or Green. (If you don't like the Democratic party).

I’ve come to terms with the fact that the party is not for me and I’ll be forced to make compromise votes for the rest of my life. I’m also coming to terms with the idea that this isn’t really a good place to vent about that idea. I’ll leave yall to it.

Trying to figure out how the wife having a colonoscopy and a stomach check results in an insurance company being billed $15k. Especially on a limited network HMO

Then you become a Republican or you work to elect Democrats who do have good ideas.

Not really a both sides thing as far as the major parties are concerned. Democrats would, I think, be more than willing to improve the ACA in significant/meaningful ways including not eliminating a significant ongoing role for private insurance. If only Republicans hadn’t decided from the beginning to essentially oppose everything Obama. And to lie and demonize essentially a very Republican strategy to move towards universal coverage.

If you’re saying it’s unlikely every election will include at least one person who you agree with 100%, that’s exactly right. That’s like expecting the Sixers to stay healthy for the playoffs. Just not going to happen.

bitc hes still gonna vote that doesnt mean he has to deal with your bullshit on OGboards. If you're gonna use that "take your ball and go home" expression so inappropriately you should probably just retire it.

I'm still voting Biden/Harris, do I also get a pass from bullshit on OGBoards?

I really feel bad for the progressive posters here who feel they've been so persecuted since they've always been so accepting of other opinions.

You've been pro-Biden since Day 1, right?

I've been seeing a lot of anger about AOC only getting 60 seconds. I don't think that's a big deal after having time to think about it. The Democratic Party hasn’t had someone like AOC, a young politician who does not need the party machine to get an audience. She should be included for the same reason prominent Dems are included, but she doesn’t NEED this. She could do a 10 minute speech and post it on YouTube and it will get a million hits easily.

AOC should put together a DNC afterparty on Twitch or something like that. Showcase progressive voices. The DNC is a relic anyway. Hopefully this will help transition it to the future.

Beats the RNC which apparently is Trump, more Trump, a side of Trump, and in closing Trump

Jh is still around by the way. I can’t imagine why he’d lurk for 3.5 years and read all the threads but never post again.
