Wake Forest Basketball Recruiting: Juke Harris Commits!!

Hubert will probably do fine and UNC will remain a top 10 program. But K WAS Duke basketball. K = Duke basketball. He was 100% of the reason they became good and stayed good all these years. No way Duke remains at the top just simply due to that. No more Ratface completely changes Duke basketball. They will not be the program they have been, and that will not be a reflection on Scheyer. UNC is a totally different situation. They have been a blue blood since the 1950s.

Eddie Cameron ( 3 conference titles 1940's) Vic Bubbas (3 final fours in the 60's) and Bill Foster (NCAA runnerup 1978, elite 8 1980) would like a few words with you.

K has been the face of Duke Basketball for the last 42 years. He got them a little further than his predecessors. However, Duke Basketball was regularly at the top of the conference and an NCAA tournament participant. There is much more detail in a post in the Coach K retirement thread.

That is true. However, the originator of the discussion implied that Duke had no basketball history before K arrived. That isn't true. Duke contended for titles long before K. Foster's 79 team was probably the Kenny Denard injury away from a national title.
 
Manny was bringing in 4 and 5 star kids every year. Recruiting has fallen off since then. This new guy can coach em but not sure he is getting enough taltented kids to fill out a ACC roster.

Any updates on Marsh? Does anyone know if he’s made it to campus yet? Has he enrolled officially?

Remember back in the 70’s when there was Duke Bill Foster and Clemson Bill Foster?
I think that’s why Duke got K as their next coach. No way there would ever be 2 coaches with that name at the same time.
 
 
Flipowski's recruiting timeline is interesting.

He had a lot of offers, but not offers from the bluebloods until late June. Then:

- June 27 Michigan offer
- June 28 Duke offer
- July 2 UNC offer
- July 19 KY offer
 
Yeah, I remember he was a name we were high on (and mentioned with) back in the winter... Hadn't heard much the last few months. The writing was on the wall.

The brotherhood stuff has been going on a few years.
 
The brotherhood mainly seems to be guys who were at Duke for a year only.
