Wake Forest Basketball Recruiting: Juke Harris Commits!!

If we don't get Brandon white then it will be a Reggie Johnson scenario all over again

The big takeaway is that he was a starter on a 19-2 team. That's a huge plus right there.

He doesn't take a lot of shots, but seems pretty efficient. Doesn't take 3s. Probably a better FT shooter than the .600 looks. He started off 15-17 on the season. Not a lot of blocks. Fouls seem reasonable. Too many turnovers. Very few assists. Based on this and a few highlights, he looks like a banger and finisher. If he can be a quality 4th C in whatever minutes he can get and play physical and get some boards, that's a huge plus.

Marsh player comparison to former Wake player: Raphael vidaretta.

He wasn’t as athletic or active around the basket.

If Marsh is a true 6-11, we haven’t had many guys with that type of size. I think Kyle Visser is a good comp.

Unzipped and waiting if this guy has visser's sr season. (Hopefully sooner than year 4)

Loving these guys wearing the jerseys and tweeting them. Big man wearing #21. Haven't seen that since Greg Oden was on campus wearing a Duncan jersey.

Brandon White and Christ Essandoko are important recruits for the Deacons. If Winston-Salem Prep and Winston-Salem Christian are going to produce legitimate high major players, the Deacs need to establish themselves as the top option at both schools. The CP3 team should have been in that category but the previous coaches failed to establish that relationship. Wake Forest needs to own the Triad.

Yeah. It doesn't matter what state it is or what other schools are close by, you've got to lock down your hometown or suffer the consequences. UNC and Duke can have whatever history they want, there is still only one school located in Winston. Losing guys like Giles to in-state rivals sucks so get to the point where it doesn't happen. Obviously won't be overnight for the 5*, bluechip guys necessarily but for the solid 4* guys that fit Forbes' team makeup, you've got to do it sooner than later.

Harry Giles declared that he owns this city.

What ever happened with Harry?

palma thinks he should get a 5 year, $25M deal.

Giles was a non-factor for the Blazers this year. His best game was 12 points, 2 reb in 15 minutes in a 48 point blowout of OKC. That was his only game scoring double digits. He did have a game with 10 reb. He only played garbage time in playoff game. Even based on the eye test, he doesn't look like a legit NBA player. He's a free agent and could feasibly be out of the league like Jaylen Hoard.

What top Winston area recruits did we miss out on between CP3 and Giles/Hoard?

Think the best player from Winston between CP3 and Giles was Deac CJ Harris.

Reggie Johnson was solid for Miami in the paint. Forget who it was, but there was someone on this Board that absolutely loved the rotund Johnson. He had some big games against WF. Reshawn Terry is from Winston, and he played at UNC from 2003-7, but missing on Terry wasn't the huge deal that Giles was.

Update: Othello Hunter who played for tOSU and in the NBA is from Winston, but he went to JUCO out of HS, and don't think WF could've recruited him out of JUCO.

I forgot CJ Harris was a Winston guy. He was a good player for us and I'd love to have a guy like him on this year's team.

Reggie Johnson would have been a good player.

Just trying to figure out if not establishing a Winston pipeline has hurt us too much in the past and how much establishing one will help us in the future. I do like the attitude of locking down the Triad and it should be a priority.
