Well then change the fucking schedule. Sadly the majority Senate Dems are sitting on their hands again, doing nothing, just like we all saw coming.

I’d be shocked if Biden signed a COVID relief bill before April. And that bill will do less than Trump’s package last summer because the Democratic leadership is full of self-interested cowards. It’s a return to Obama era liberalism, where Dems swear to have the best intentions but deliver little to nothing.

The problem with that is many Members of Congress have set up plans in their home districts/states.

Pelosi and Biden are still talking about the full $1.9T. Some will be shaved off but not much.

Apparently, there is a problem with putting the minimum wage in a reconciliation bill. Dems should pass it as a standalone and make the GOP try to block it. That would backfire in 2022 in all swing races.

BTW, you need to get of the BS about Obama. For the last six years of his term, McConnell had the six highest of cloture bills in U.S. history. Please explain, how Obama could have done anything about that or please stop trotting out this nonsensical concept.

We are not talking about the same thing, but I'll use this as my opportunity to rant. Something this good thread allows.

Centrist Dems have always been losers. Pelosi, Schumer and Co. were do-nothing dolts during the Obama years, why did anyone think that would change now? Being preferable to the unhinged Trump right is their only badge of honor.

They don't actually want to accomplish anything, especially if it will upset their corporate financiers. Their only aim is to stay in office and power. They don't give two shits about their constituents.

If you let the Squad and Bernie run the party and Congress for one week they'd get more good accomplished than Pelosi and Schumer would be willing to do with a decade of control.



As to your article Whatamount, Pelosi and crew would much rather spend a year fighting that culture war, than pass a single piece of legislation that tangibly improved the daily lives of racial minorities. Why? Because their corporate overlords would rather put out a 1000 PR statements vilifying racism, and make dozens of commercials speaking to the subject, before they would ever allow a $15/hour minimum wage.

You keep repeating the highlighted BULLSHIT as if it were true, as if a minority party can overrule the majority and pass bills. It is indisputable, historical record that during those years McConnell killed more bills that at any time in US history.

Please explain exactly how, Schumer and Pelosi (each of whom should be replaced) could have gotten things done while in the minority and at the mercy of McConnell.

If you can't specifically explain how they could have done what you wanted them to do, please stop acting in a Trumpian manner that says the impossible is reality.

FDR got more done in a week than Obama and the 111th Congress accomplished in two years.

RJ this was a colossal failure, and proof of how ineffective and terrible that Democratic leadership is. Yet that entire leadership is still intact.

Pelosi. Schumer. Hoyer. Clyburn. They Got Fuck All Done. Yet they still run the Democratic Congressional Leadership. All four should have been chucked out of power the moment the 111th Congress ended.

In less than one year, Obama et al, saved the economy from falling into a depression, passed Lily Ledbetter, further limited tobacco advertising (which saved countless thousands of lives), created the biggest healthcare bill other than Medicare in US history and other things in 10 months. Hell, the vote to pass ACA cost Obama his majorities because so many morons thought it went too far. To say 2009 was a failure is ludicrous.

To compare the nation and the economy of 1933 to that of 2009 is ridiculous. Hint, GDP in 1933 was $570B which is about 3-4% of what it was in 2009.

It can be legitimately argued that 2009 was one of the Top 5 years in accomplishments in the 20th century.

I completely agree that Schumer and Pelosi should be gone, but your position doesn't deal with reality of getting major things passed in this era.
