Just batshit crazy in here

Trump will be reinstated as the 18th president of the United States, because everything since 1871 (the date the Sovereign Citizen movement claims the U.S. became a corporation) is “illegal.”

Whiplash347 continues that Trump will then step down, and John F. Kennedy Jr., who died in a plane crash in 1999, will become president “like he would of if it wasn't for Killary plotting to kill him.” Joining JFK Jr. as vice president will be disgraced former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn.

At this point, Trump will ascend to “become 1 of the 7 new Kings. Most likely the King of Kings.”

It's weird at how much of the whole "Trump will return in glory to the Presidency" compares to the traditional Evangelical belief in The Rapture. The plots are remarkably similar. Just more evidence of how Dear Leader is replacing Jesus in the affections of the faithful. They no longer care as much to talk about the Second Coming of Christ, now it's the Second Coming of Trump they pine for.

I mean, Jesus died for stuff he didn't even do...Trump gets away with shit...who's the winner here...who's more likely to cheat and WIN...TRUMP!

'murican Christieannity!

Yeah. The first map is ridiculous and the second looks cleaner, until you look more closely. You see that the three largest population centers are each split into three different districts that are absorbed by surrounding rural areas that have large Republican majorities. So, for example, you have Greensboro which is a majority-minority city that has an all democratic city Council and there will be zero democratic representation coming out of that entire area.

As someone else posted, if that is the map that is ultimately used then Guilford County residents will be sharing 3 separate congressional districts with people from West Jefferson, Sanford, and Concord. LOL.

In the naïve spirit of actual discussion of these maps, it is harder to do than people think. The growing areas (blue) have to be chopped up into splinters because the hinterlands by themselves don't have the population to support a stand-alone district. E.G. You need Boone and Asheville just to fill out NC 14.

I would welcome a game of "Name that District" based upon word association with that area. For example:

NC-1: "You leave us alone, we'll leave you alone. Deal?"
NC-2: We pained this District purple because we didn't get in to ECU.
NC-3: "Thanks for paying for our schools, suckers! Property taxes just went up again!"
NC-4: Every Smithfields Chick'n and BBQ is a precinct, and only there.
NC-5: Will Cary just leave already? We get it, you miss WaWa.
NC-6: If National Titles were Senate seats, this would be Rome.
NC-7: Laugh all you want, we're the one with the Zoo.
NC-8: All of our high school football coaches are interviewing for jobs in South Carolina/just got fired from one.
NC-9: The incredible shrinking district. Will be invisible to the naked eye in 2031.
NC-10: Charlotte without the taxes
NC-12: "Quiet, the race is on t.v."
NC-13: "No serious, The Fred Durst really is from here."
NC-14: [Currently interviewing candidates; no reasonable offer refused]

Looks can be deceiving. I've posted the results before, but going back 40 years, maps drawn by Democrats gave Democrats an average of +1 additional seat based on statewide votes. In contrast, the 2010 Republican drawn maps gave Republicans +3 additional seats based on statewide votes. These new maps give Republicans +4 seats. Simply put, Republicans are choosing their voters in order to steal 3-4 additional seats in the US House. Republicans simply have to gerrymander to take back the House. State districts are just as bad.

You have a remarkable ability to rationalize.

Unbiased district mapping is pretty easy to do. You can write an optimization algorithm that will carve up the state to minimize some metrics and maximize others. You still have to agree on /define what metrics are minimized and maximized, but at least with an algorithm it’s all transparent and not subject to individual biases.
