BillBrasky Memorial Political Chat Thread

However if you just kill private insurance while you have the chance and go single payer there is no coming back from that. Stop being such cowards you Establishment Dems.

When was that going to happen? Private insurance is part and parcel of our current Medicare system. You think you would be able to accomplish that with 50 or 51 senators? Just because you really want something to happen doesn't mean it is even remotely feasible.

I think about this a decent amount. How much should a politician and/or platform represent the current beliefs of their constituents versus trying to push public opinion. Don't know the answer.

I think it's worth noting that we canonize the "pushers" -- the MLKs and the JFKs and the FDRs and so on

even on the right, Reagan and Thatcher pushed their philosophy before it was overwhelmingly popular

I wish I could move out of this country. I really do. I hate it here.

I will personally help finance the facilitation of said moves. If anyone here wants to follow suit, please DM me and I will contribute up to $5k to any OGB poster’s move who proves that they are moving out of the US and renouncing their citizenship.

I am 100% serious.

Set a start date for single payer M4A (say, 2025) and start the ball rolling. Government will provide insurance to every citizen, and we will return individual and corporate tax rates to pre-Reagan days to do so. Current HC plans can still exist as add-ons, but everyone will have base government insurance provided. Eliminate the filibuster and every other legislative stalling mechanism, up and down vote passes everything.

Next?

It would never make it to a vote when it became obvious that it was never going to get 50 votes.

In fact, I’ll up the ante. If you are in NC I’ll put you in contact with a real estate agent (who will sell your house quickly because she’s great and hot) and will reimburse you the full amount of her commission. I will also set you up with a closing attorney and will fully cover the closing costs.

Hell of an offer, but none of us go anywhere right now due to your to actions of your white trash brethren

lol I dont think you have to worry about any of the board leftists taking you up on that part. Super coincidentally, home ownership probably falls along the boards political divide.

This presumes home ownership which may be a bridge too far for some of the board socialists and other Tunnels left posters.

AKA I don’t own anything, so it doesn’t apply to me. Good luck next time, Brasky! Your bro does pretty well for himself, so I’m sure he can help you out.

Genuine question. How so?

I type this from the kitchen of the home that I own. Even on a teacher's salary you can buy a pretty decent house here in Winston!

That being said, you gotta love the generational wealth shaming from a guy from who probably lives in an condo full of restoration hardware furniture and who is in debt up to his eye balls.

1. There was no generational wealth. 2. My rental properties do, in fact, have some furniture from Ashley? 3. I have lived the last decade with the goal of being debt free by 30. I got there at 28.

Amazing what happens when you don’t piss and moan about the inadequacies of life on the internet and actually work hard for the things you want. America is fucking awesome.

Americans can’t even travel to 90 percent of the world right now because of our government’s failure to curb a pandemic that nearly everyone in the rest of the world did. So the moving thing isn’t worth much right now.

I bet you that narrative is going to KILL IT at the next Tony Robbins cult convention. It sounds like your existence has been a real net positive for our society!
