BillBrasky Memorial Political Chat Thread

Well it’s a jungle primary and her general opponent would probably be another Dem.

Results coming out that Bolivian MAS Party (Movement Toward Socialism) candidate Luis Arce won the Presidency in a landslide victory

Political Chat Thread - All Topics & Rants Welcome

That's Evo Morales' party if anyone was wondering.

US empire just taking Ls all over the place. How long until President Joe Biden calls Arce a dictator? A year?

Voting straight ticket with the exception of Troxler. Voting for a pub, even for Ag Commissioner, hurts.

Practicality. I’m a play/pretend farmer who just supplements my income a little with farming, but all my buddies who farm for a living, especially chicken farmers, are concerned about the impractical/unnecessary regs that Wadsworth would bring about. Also, Wadsworth is much more concerned with overall national/social issues than actual N.C. ag issues. Ask any N.C. farmer who they support, their answers are pretty uniform.

Just wondering if that is a legit criticism or a "Democrats = regulations = bad" kind of thing.

It’s pretty uniform across the ag industry folks regardless of political party. Obviously, around my area farmers lean more pub, but my friends who farm and generally vote dem are pretty adamant in their support of Troxler as well.

Nobody's who's in an industry wants regulations for his industry.

Or at least superfluous, unreasonable ones. I also am a little wary of a militant vegan being the head of ag for our state. But you have a valid point.

what are some of the regulations in particular that are of concern? I have no frame of reference for any of this.

For the most part it centers around animal ag, which doesn't affect me specifically as I don't do anything commercially with my animals. But my understanding is that she has an agenda against animal ag in general, and plans to implement new guidelines for chicken houses in general that will cause a great deal of headache and overhead for the farmers without causing significant advances in animal quality of life, industry safety or working conditions. Basically just punishment under the guise of industry improvement. My own opinion is that she saw no one was running against Troxler and used the opportunity to increase her name recognition for future political endeavors.

I don’t know anything about this race but all that looks like standard Republican talking points about a Democrat. And portraying a woman as ignorant about the issues because she only wants to further her career seems standard.

Her previous role was as a soil and water district supervisor, so it’s an easy step to go from that to agriculture.

There were two other people running in the primary against her. It’s not like she leapt into an empty spot

To be fair to mako, he’s not concerned with the leap from soil and water to plants growing out of soil and water. He’s concerned her feeble lady mind can’t handle the animals eating those plants. And he’s also concerned that a vegan lady isn’t going to care about animal safety. You know they’re vegans because they hate animals so much they don’t want to eat them.

Ph, you know how much I love you, man, but sometimes when you identify the bolded part you could perhaps be better off leaving out the unbolded part. If I, with my general political leanings residing somewhere in between the spectrums of you and mdmh, am advocating for a particular candidate despite the fact that he is a republican, that should probably tell you all you need to know about the race.

I wouldn’t even say you are advocating for him, just explaining your vote because I asked. I’m still voting for Wadsworth, but I understand she’s a long shot in this race.

Dude, you literally just admitted you knew nothing about the race, and I mean, it's not like I farm or live in an agricultural area or also have lots of friends who farm for a living. I definitely have trouble with women in power as well, you know, being an ardent supporter of Elizabeth Warren throughout the entire primary process. I'm not quite sure why you're wanting to argue here given your lack of understanding about basically any of this, but you do you.
