Wake Football Week 1 - Clemson discussion

I will try my best. It’s Marxist and anti nuclear family. They advocate to kill cops and defund them. They are currently harassing people in the streets eating in restaurants and making them raised their fists and say people’s names. Those are just a few things I’ve seen. It’s also been reported that they have said BLM before they have murdered people.

I believe the organization is founded upon evil tendencies that are designed to tear down this nation and make us something far different for what we stand for as a nation. Anything that I feel in my heart is anti-Christ, I am against.

I should’ve shadowed you for a few days before busting out my parody account. Good work All around.

Should have said in addition to twitter, I’m not on Facebook either. This is the closest thing to social media I do. I believe BLM has many people trying to be politically correct and not criticizing them, otherwise you know what they will be called.

If I was part of a “peaceful” protest with BLM and Antifa became part of it, I would call those losers out and get away from them. I do know that Antifa has hijacked some of the protest so the protest end up being more violent. But there are enough issues with BLM, that I don’t want anyone from my family to be a part of. This isn’t anything like MLK Jr’s protests back in his days.

The alt-right boogaloo bois and others hijack the protests more than antifa, which has never killed anyone. Again, quit watching Hannity.

hpdeac...

I choose to believe you posted because you want to have a reasonable discussion. Something about BLM doesn't quite fit in your own mind and heart and you want to examine your own views about it. To do so anonymously with people you have something in common with, a college education at an institution with the motto "Pro Humanitate". People you describe as friends. Good for you.

Eleven posts despite receiving personal criticism suggests somethings up. If reasonable discussion is your objective I suggest you open a thread about BLM on "The Pit". I'm game. I know Jaybone is game. He started one on the 247 board. I imagine there are others as well. Expect the slings and arrows. It goes with the territory anymore. I still believe that people can discuss an issue they disagree on to the benefit of all involved.

You can’t discuss anything with a Fox News addict. Those people are brainwashed.

One of their co-founders Patrise Cullors said in 2015 that BLM is a trained Marxist organization. That was her own words as I didn’t get it from a Russian hacked website. Their website lists that BLM wants to dismantle the nuclear family (which I believe is a main issue with this country as many kids don’t have a mother and father at home). I and many others see this is an organization as I divisive movement that the Russians and Chinese are loving what BLM and Antifa is doing to our country right now.

Look, I don’t want to get into too much about this anti American organization as they are getting enough attention by ill informed people. My main point is “why sports” and why do you think a fist on a helmet or a sticker or rapist’s name who didn’t comply with an officer on a jersey is going to help your cause.

And for those who want to say “bye”, I guess you are ok with losing more of a fan base that is already one of the smallest in the nation.

Please, don’t hesitate to GO THE FUCK ON SOMEWHERE ELSE, you little bitch. Damn, that felt goood.

I support our guys because I think what they are doing is for all the right reasons and not any of the ones someone may think is wrong and damn if I’m not going to support this team that I’ve supported my whole life because I’ve got a problem with what some in small numbers have done under the name of BLM or whatever. Our guys are busting their butts in practice and in the Virtual classroom under these crazy circumstances and they have my 100 Percent support if they want to put BLM, raised fists or a picture of a pink unicorn on their helmets because I know they are doing it for the positive and not the negative. We can all disagree about this or that when it comes to all that’s going on in the world, but if you’re really a Wake fan than we should all be able to agree on this, Go Deacs!!!

Is not the issue that BLM actually has no structure. Multiple points of view including some stupid radical. Is any website actually the official BLM website? I don’t know the answer. For all you know the fucking Russians could be hosting the site you visited holding those views,
You obviously never studied Marx. In addition, is there something illegal in America for being a socialist. You act like it's some kind of ghastly belief system like Trumpism.

Sorry, I’m new at this so I apologize for not knowing everything on this board about posting so I’m trying. Like I’ve said earlier, I always just read but wanted to respond to this as this is really frustrating to see what’s happening in our country and now in Wake sports.

I don’t think you guys have been unreasonable as I knew I probably wouldn’t have anyone on this board to share just a small part of my view.

There is a big issue with what’s going on in communities with people killing each other and having nothing to do with police. If we “kill the police” or defund the police, which is what BLM advocates, how does that help any communities? Please note not too many years ago, BLM were chanting “what do we want, dead cops, when do we want them, now”. Now everyone is acting like BLM is for positive change. I’m sorry I just don’t see it and will never understand it.

The players speaking up isn’t provoking violence but the organization the players will be exhibiting on their helmets is a violent organization. I don’t believe the narrative the news media is advocating about what is really happening. If people feel they are being unfairly treated, they still need to comply with the authority. I also believe social media like twitter is one of many sites that fuels the fire. That is why I no longer do any twitter. Yes, I just read there and never tweeted. I initially just followed sports but then that obviously changed not too long ago so I just ended it all together

In summary, I do refer to all of you guys as my “friends” to my wife as she is always wandering what I’m reading. I still will read and hope we can still be “friends” and just agree to disagree

You are frustrated with what is happening in our country. You believe that if people want change and to be safe they still need to comply.

What people like myself actually GO THROUGH is I have to look in the mirror before i leave my home and accept I may not come back solely due to the color of my skin. What someone like Ja'Cquez Williams has to GO THROUGH is if he gets pulled over it becomes a life or death scenario solely because of the color of his skin. What someone like Cameron Glenn has to GO THROUGH is being a large black man with tattoos means you're a target.

You asked a question of, "why sports?" Because it's the only place people like you and people in power seem to give a damn about them and they're able to get their voice across of "we matter too" because in every other aspect of life it doesn't feel like Black Lives Matter. I have 3 grandparents still on this earth and all three of them were alive before the Civil Rights Act was passed, 2 were in the military in different positions, and my grandmother was in public health. They'll be some of the first to tell you not shit has changed since then. My mother was in school a couple of years after schools in Atlanta gradually integrated. She'll tell you shit hasn't changed. She fears for my life every time i leave home, and I'm not someone who goes and breaks windows, steals, murders. I'm a 24 year old Wake Forest graduate with a double major, working in analytics, and do nothing else but write for a shitty blog and make terrible jokes on twitter. But she's scared for me, and I'm scared for me because the color of my skin makes me a target.

The players aren't promoting the organization, which does a lot of good but that is a discussion for not now, but they're promoting that Black Lives Matter. Because they haven't ever in this country and people are tired of being scared and they don't want their kids to grow up living in the same fear we have.

My wife reported seeing the Gameday bus at the Doubletree on University. I guess espn can’t afford the Kimpton Cardinal these days. Herbstreit must be pissed.

One of the great results of the helmet decals is that White folks, at least a % of them, are forced to articulate why they are opposed. They have to make a choice: NOT watch a game they have been pining for OR watch and listen to smart, educated, poised, rational Men (in this case), and not all Black mind you, likely articulate in sound bites interspersed throughout the broadcast as to why this matters so much.

Those opposed will likely be conflicted. On one hand, they like/love Wake Forest AND they support the athletes (at least while at Wake), but they have also been led to believe by FoxNews or the like, that the "violent" BLM movement (nevermind Ahmaud Arbery or Brionna Taylor or George Floyd and on and on that spawned the anger and sadness) is coming to take over our suburbs (sorry, not sure what the fear is exactly - rape our women seems so 1875 to me).

It is true that one can not allow voice and power to Black lives or even to women without losing some voice and power. I mean, we used to have 100 white male senators, so technically, white men have lost power in government. It is the same rationale the affluent use to support Trump - hate the man, but hell, I have more power and money if he is in charge.

Anyway, this is the conversation the decals have generated on here and I hope it happens in households throughout the country, but specifically within Deacon homes and get togethers.

Someone in facebook just posted that we have 8 guys out due to COVID. Sounds like an entire position group. Hopefully this person is completely wrong and Conor/Les will come in here to confirm they're nothing but rumors and the depth chart is still set.

Reading comprehension, man.

He says he got it from the Charlotte Observer. This is the Clawson quote in that story:

“What happens with COVID is one guy tests positive, and it knocks eight guys out. Then, all of a sudden, you’re short at a position. That limits how much the whole team can practice,” Clawson described.

Clawson wasn't talking specifically because he has no way of knowing specifics until Saturday. This is literally the graf above the quote:

Clawson said the Demon Deacons have had COVID-19 cases in the football program. He declined to provide a number, but said it’s limited. The difficulty is when someone shows symptoms, that player is isolated and contact tracing commences, creating a ripple effect.

I wouldn't be surprised to find out Wake was missing entire position groups for days at a time during camp because of contact tracing. But for him to put on Facebook that he read that Wake is missing eight players for Saturday's game off of that quote and from that story is wrong.

Thanks for clarifying. I saw that post about 8 guys being out and my first thought was that I would believe it when we hear it from Conor or Les. Thanks for doing such a great job covering Wake sports.

Thanks Conor. I didn't dig around and do any research. I read it and naturally posted it 8 seconds later on the boards. Appreciate the clarification.

BLM appropriate
Clinched Black Power/Black Panther symbol - not Appropriate And unnecessary.

This is going to lead not only to discussion but to ridicule.

HP is not alone. There will be a significant counter reaction to this within the Wake community especially among those that actually write checks to the athletic department.

Wake is an elite highly competitive academic institution. This will be viewed by many as woke elite college bubble political correctness.

Let’s see Clemson or any SEC school put the clinched fist on their helmets.

College Athletics as we know it may very well be over,
