COVID Thread 2: Operation Ludicrous Speed ! (Super Political!!!)

Even if suicides had increased, it begged the question-did they increase because of the lockdown, or the pandemic-(ie, some people would have stayed home because they didn't want to kill anyone, not just because the government told them to).

Republicans sold people on something that sounded plausible but had no facts to back it up? Weird.

Those suicide numbers would have been higher, except all the death certificates were marked COVID so the states could steal more money!

FEMA pays them more if they label it as COVID!

Gates. Gotta get those microchips! And the sharks with frickin' lasers on their foreheads.

GOP favorite son Ron DeSantis just had one of his videos banned from Youtube in "which Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and a handful of medical experts questioned the effectiveness of having children wear masks to stop the spread of COVID-19." So kids don't need to wear masks, but adults do. Among the medical "experts" advising DeSantis about this was former Trump Covid adviser Dr. Scott Atlas. If Trump doesn't run in 2024, here's your next GOP presidential candidate, everyone!

Nikki Fried is the likely Democrat challenger. She’s got a decent chance.

DeSantis did win in 2018 by only one-half of one percent, but he still won. If she follows the trend of many Democrats in Florida since the 2000 Bush/Gore contest, she'll appear to run a strong race, lead in most polls up to election day, and then lose a heartbreaker by less than one percent, at which point the winning Republican will govern the state as if they won over 60% of the vote. Based on the recent record of Florida Democrats I don't have much hope of a breakthrough in 2022. It became pretty clear in 2020 that the party is basically a dumpster fire down there. There are plenty of Democrats in the state, the problem seems to be that they can't/won't get organized, the state party is badly factionalized, and the state party leadership is incompetent.

Pretty much. But the FL Dems have managed to keep it close despite being a shit operation against a well run FL Pub operation. There’s plenty of room to grow. Fried actually did win despite getting little support from the FL Dems who didn’t fully get behind her pro-marijuana stance.

One thing FL Dems have going for them is that the Florida GOP leadership can’t seem to stop sex trafficking teen age girls and looking at child porn on the interment. That should help close the gap by at least a quarter of one percent!

200M total doses have been administered. 3.35M a day 7-day average.

those old ass trumpers were dying. they bought in to the need to get the shot.
