2020-21 WF Basketball Season - "Experts" Think We Suck

This will help and encouraging that Ian likely to come back next year. A stronger Williamson plus Dubose is a quality starting backcourt next year.

That is great news as he showed signs of being our best player in the first two games.

Plus Whitt with an off-season strength and conditioning pram and some individual skills work.

Bold with the MJ reference.

Plus our other 2 four star (or very high 3 star) 6’4” guard recruits. Need a true power forward with muscle to complete the team.

He is a missing ingredient for the team. He will join Davien as a primary player. There is no timid in Dubose. At 6'4" and 225 pounds he brings NBA size and strength to the the guards. He has three years of experience as an "alpha" player and will want the ball when the action gets tough. Forbes has said on several occasions Ian was recruited to be the 'go to" player for this team. Dubose is legit and Wake Forest basketball is his opportunity to prove it.

Cleared to resume practice, right ? Maybe not yet in game conditioning.

For sure. Sounded like Ian has essentially done nothing (per doctor's orders) for two months. He might get very limited minutes this weekend, but the earliest he would likely be ready to really contribute would be BC on February 10. After Miami this Saturday, WF plays at ND next Tuesday, but then WF has 8 days off until playing at BC (assuming that the ACC doesn't add a game to the schedule to make up one of the games WF lost).

Treat yourself. The 247 board has a podcast hosted by LD Williams and Bobby Hoekstra talking Wake hoops. If I knew how to post a link it would already be here. Outstanding.

Our guys need to watch tape of Kispert (Gonzaga). He is constant motion but is always ready to square, catch and shoot. Too many times, our guys aren't ready to shoot when they get the ball. When they practice this, their shooting will improve. Plus, the opponents will know it and lanes will be created for the next pass or drive.

Wake Forest in a nice little tourney next season...

Wake Forest in a nice little tourney next season...

Interesting tournament here. Opportunity for a few major conference wins and we're not playing anybody that should run out of the gym. Will be an interesting barometer of where we're at in the beginning of the season and a good starting point to judge the growth of our young players and team during the season.

We usually go to Grayton Beach for Thanksgiving. Going to try to make this tournament. Just need to convince the family.

Looks like we're pretty much locked into the #13 or #14 slot for the ACC Tourney, which means a first round game on Tuesday, March 9th.

If we get the #13 seed over Miami, we'll play the #12 seed (probably Pitt) in the first game at 2pm.
If we fall to #14, we'll play the #11 seed (probably Notre Dame, but maybe NCSU or Syracuse) at 7pm.
