2020 Horror Movie Recommendations by Streaming Service

I don’t like any of the Rob Zombie movies. What am I missing?

I have paternity leave in January and intend to use this thread as a personal must watch list. Thanks for the recs and keep em coming!

I’m probably unique in that I think The Exorcist was the scariest movie I’ve seen. Jaws and The Shining are probably my top two. In recent years, Hereditary, Midsommar, Mother!, Mandy, and The Witch are some favorites. I like an underrated random one like Event Horizon too. Still tons to pore through here.

What about Silence of the Lambs. I’m not a big horror fan in general but love that film and Jaws is probably my favorite movie. Those two plus Alien are probably the only horror/horror adjacent films I like.

Top 10 in no real order:

The Exorcist
The Omen
Rosemary’s Baby

New Nightmare
The Witch
Hereditary
Midsommar
Night of the Living Dead
The Wicker Man
The Descent

I think Mandy is so interesting because even though it has lots of horror elements, I don’t really consider it a horror movie - it feels more to me like an epic poem, a psychedelic heroes journey. Considering how much I loved Beyond The Black Rainbow, I was more excited about Mandy than any other film I have ever anticipated, and it didn’t disappoint. I would pay to see a pre-flight safety demonstration video if Panos Cosmatos directed it.

If you're looking for terrible acting, softcore porn and a ridiculous nonflowing storyline, and quite possibly the worst movie of all time, check out The Executioners on Hulu.

Ooh another really fun one is Cabin in the Woods. Very clever.

Holy hell....Just finished house of the Devil and....wow....One of the scarier movies I've seen. Great rec

You should check out Ti West’s other stuff - The Innkeepers and The Sacrement are both very good as well, though not as good as House of the Devil

Good call on Goodnight Mommy. I kinda figured it out early on, but that didn’t detract from my enjoyment.

Will definitely watch both by end of weekend. It's rare to find surprise scares in horror these days. I won't give it away if someone is yet to watch it but the scene with Megan after leaving the Ulman's house was one of those rare scares.

Glad you enjoyed it. Little slow developing and yeah, the twist is pretty predictable but overall a great flick and different than most of the generic writing we've seen over the past decade.

Don't Breathe wrings more tension than I ever figured would be possible out of being trapped in a house with a blind man. And the setting of the urban decay of Detroit was perfect.

One of the most tense movies I’ve seen, still don’t know how I feel about the dark twist at the end; seemed unnecessary

Creep and Creep 2 are favorites of mine. Heard there is a third on the way.

Veronica was great, it's up there with Rec as the best Spanish (Spain) horror film of all time.

Train to Busan might be my all time favorite Korean horror flick.

I'm disappointed that Dead Snow hasn't received a mention in this thread, hilarious and extremely well done com-horror.

I'll throw the original Funny Games out there as well.

Troll Hunter is a very fun Norweigan "horror" movie, highly recommend.

Cabin in the Woods doesn't get the credit it deserves.

The Fourth Kind was probably the most unexpected "WHAT THE FUCK" movie I've ever watched. Saw it alone in a pitch black cabin in the middle of nowhere Maine, and I did not sleep that night.

Has anyone seen the Korean film Metamorphosis? I've heard great things but I can't find it streaming anywhere.

Oh shit, I just remembered Altered. I remember it being very, very good. Directed by Eduardo Sanchez that did the Blair Witch Project. I need to rewatch this. Kind of a reverse alien abduction movie.

is "Ma" a good film

i watched some youtube clips and it seemed lame
