Has to be asked. This is not normal for a true freshman walk-on to play this well.

I mean it's been pretty apparent that our non-scholarship player football recruiting has dramatically improved in both quality and quantity. One of the benefits of that is that you're going to have players who come out of that group who overachieve and really should have been scholarship players.

Kid isn't just playing, he's "ballin"....has played well in every game. How'd he not get a scholly offer from someone?

Answer to your question may be in post#3 above. He is small. But, as noted when he walked on, he is a hitter.

Wake's secondary has been beat up, with 8 guys out at one point. Having a playable+ walkon -on really helps.

Some of the staff doing some serious convincing to get these guys to pay Wake $75k for the privilege of playing football. The more of these guys the staff brings in, the more likely they are to find rotation players and even starters in the group. See recent grad Jack Freudenthal's career for details.

What was the deal when he was helped off the field? It seemed like a weird stinger that left an arm or a hand (or both) numb, but he was insistent he was fine. Kid is fierce, but these type of players often need to be protected from themself.
