Clemson QB Lawrence tests positive

I'm all for calling out the persistent negative folks, but Pilch, you're the dude that said this was gonna be Clawson's best defense, so it doesn't really hit coming from you

Yep and there was no hesitation to call that out here. Didn't look good through two weeks (although Clemson had lowest point total of the season against WF in the opener), but WF is playing an 11 game season. Starting to look like a less sucky thought.

WGAF? It's a virus that most people will eventually catch and 99.99% who are not weak or old will recover from with no ill effects. This is actually great news for Clemson as this assures he will not catch covid for the playoffs.

Donny Jr here? Watch Fox News? What an idiot. The previously healthy ASU student’s family disagrees.

Thanks a bunch Dillon.... I am 82 and a Wake grad. So you are telling me I likely WILL catch it and highly likely will die from it.

Not at all. Those who are high risk should continue to take precautions. Stay away from college parties and football players, for instance. I don’t wish the illness on anyone. But at the end of they day until (if) there is a vaccine the virus will spread and man cannot stop that from happening. Apologies that my post was flippant - whiskey involved - but college kids catching covid is a non-story.

He died from guillan-barre. Absolutely tragic. I cannot comprehend the pain his family is in. I also know two people personally who nearly died from guillan-barre contracted before covid was around from mild viral infections. g-b is an ass kicker that was around before covid and will be around post-covid. Nice job with the panic porn though, pointing out the single college death out of a million cases. I did say 99.99%, not 100%.

If we want to swap “whatta bout” death stories, how about the mount olive univ athletes who were killed in a jeep accident shortly after classes were canceled. Had sports not been canceled they would have had games that night and would still be alive. There ya go, two deaths for one, dipshit. I eagerly await your next one in a million anecdote.

Guillain-Barre happens to a very small percentage of people that contract certain viral illnesses. The problem is that when tens of millions of people are contracting a viral illness that can cause Guillain-Barre, the number of Guillian-Barre cases goes up.

As a general rule of thumb, trying to minimize the impact of COVID-19, which has caused 225,000 deaths in the United States, is not a good idea.

Interesting. Now WF has a shot against the #4 team in the nation; wasn't that long ago DS couldn't wait to dive on the "WF is headed for an 0-10 ACC season" Bandwagon.

I had no idea that my posts carried so much weight for you, Pilch. I'm honored.

Through the halftime of the UVA game, the D looked awful. Awful. The State game, in particular, had a fairly pedestrian offense with a backup QB getting 20 yards off of simple off-tackle or sweep plays where the entire edge just disappeared. We argued before the season about how good the D might be, with you taking a particularly strong position that this D would be great. You got called out on it by me (among others).

If the D for the rest of the season looks more like the D of the last 6 quarters, I will be ecstatic. And I will happily tell you that you were right and I was wrong. Other than that, I'm not sure what your ultimate issue is. Its a message board. People make posts, often in the heat of the moment. Sometimes those posts are proven correct (such as theReff's post saying that Mack Brown was going to be good at UNC- something else I got wrong). Sometimes the posts are proven wrong. Sometimes the posts are insane (like when WRS say Clawson should be fired). You've been posting for over 20 years at this point. This can't come as a surprise.

This is way off topic, but the focus on the 25-44 age group for excess deaths is misleading. As I posted on the politics board, once you dig into the numbers you see that a large percentage of the increase in excess deaths is not related to COVID-19 at all; it is a continuation of an extremely unfortunate trend in the US in which we have seen a large increase in deaths within that age group over the past few years. You can see this because deaths in that age group: 1) have increased significantly 2015-2019; and 2) continued to rise in the first 9 weeks of 2020, when US deaths could not be credibly tied to COVID-19. I believe that baseline increase is at least as great of a public health interest as COVID when talking about this age group.

There no doubt has been an increase in deaths for that age group which can partially attributed to COVID-19. There is no doubt also an increase because of the economic situation facing many young adults March through present.

He's saying that, in two weeks, you've gone from stating we'd be lucky to win more than 1 game, to saying we have a decent/good shot against a top 5/10 team. As a constantly negative poster and leader of the MFF movement, your wild change of tone deserved to be called out, just as Pilch's wild defensive hype did after the first 2 games.

99.99%. Still accurate. There are probably a few other stories you can find and post if you look hard enough. In the meantime what we should do about this issue? https://blogs.scientificamerican.co...-still-causing-deaths-on-u-s-college-campuseshttps://blogs.scientificamerican.com/guest-blog/why-is-meningitis-still-causing-deaths-on-u-s-college-campuses//

Seriously? You posted (twice) a link to a story from 2016 about meningococcal meningitis. The story reports 3 deaths of college students from this condition from 2013 to 2016. You then ask "what should we do about this issue?" Well, as the article suggests, all states should require the vaccine prior to enrollment in college. That's the whole point of the article you posted. So now that vexing question is solved, let's focus on COVID rather than a bunch of whatabouts.

not to mention these deaths are with a good chunk of the country following lockdown/mask/distancing requirements

I didn’t read the link nor do i care about meningitis. You appear to have missed the point that freak tragic deaths happen on college campuses every year. I’d wager that more 20 year olds died from alcohol poisoning last year with cocks drawn on their faces than will die from covid this year. I’d also wager a year’s salary that trevor lawrence will not die from covid.

Well, based on the odds you keep touting, you'd be wagering your salary against like $10. And betting on someone living or dying from a disease is about as despicable as you can get (coming from a degenerate gambler).
