Official Election Month Thread: COUP falls short, nothing to see here

It may become useful to refer to the events of Jan 6 as an attempted insurrection. That may be important, as section 3 of the 14th amendment can be used to bar Trump and others who supported the insurrection from holding any office, federal or state.

Precedent says this only requires a simple majority in both housed of Congress, not 2/3.

What type of proceeding, impeachment or something else?

What precedent are you referring to? This article says it's a lot more complicated that that:

This article suggests that, if impeachment doesn't happen, the safest way to proceed is for Congress to pass a law, signed by President Biden, to authorize a civil action enjoining insurrectionists from holding office. If this route were taken, whether Trump was barred would probably have to wait until he announced he was running again (or some other time when it became evident he was going to do so) and the ultimate decision as to whether he was barred would be made in the court system.

Delusional fucking nitwits, all of them.

Replace VP, rescind the vote count, name Trump the winner, secure the support of the military - all in one genius move!

They've finally cracked it. That's the solution.

It's certainly is interesting how the lady doth protest too much remains true and relevant.

The same people who constantly claim "patriotism" hate American democracy. The same people who scream about law and order and blue lives mattering don't care that a policeman was murdered. It's the exact same as the one's who were vehemently against same sex marriage turning out to be gay. They're all hypocritical liars who don't care about anything except satisfying their delusional false reality.

Yeah, those women need to be quiet.

what exactly is the end game for morons like this? In a week he'll be shown to have been a total idiot; i presume he will then make up new crap that can never be disproven either? But what exactly is he going for? He says he's a lawyer - is he trying to troll up business? What an asshole.

Yeah, obviously you haven’t mastered the art of grift and power. You move on to the next conspiracy that can never be proven totally false. So after the 20th Next up is probably that Trump is still president but has gone underground to dig deeper into the deep state and the satanic cult of baby eating Democrats.

How about the guy beating the police officer with an American flag?

Trump filed for re-election in early 2017, shortly after inauguration. Thus, he was able to collect campaign contributions throughout his presidency. If he did so again, the issue would be "ripe."

And the PGA announces they will just rotate the PGA Championship between Trump courses for the rest of eternity.

Also, the 14th amendment could be invoked to remove Hawley, Cruz et al from Congress.

[h=2]Harvard removes Republican Elise Stefanik from advisory committee[/h] Stefanik was among the 147 House Republicans who voted against certifying President-elect Joe Biden's electoral victory.

BOSTON — The Harvard Institute of Politics removed Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.) from its Senior Advisory Committee in the wake of last week's deadly riot at the U.S. Capitol, pointing to her unfounded claims of voter fraud in the November election.
"Elise has made public assertions about voter fraud in November’s presidential election that have no basis in evidence, and she has made public statements about court actions related to the election that are incorrect," Harvard Kennedy School Dean Douglas Elmendorf wrote in a letter released Tuesday. "Moreover, these assertions and statements do not reflect policy disagreements but bear on the foundations of the electoral process through which this country’s leaders are chosen."

For her part, Stefanik called her removal "a rite of passage and badge of honor." Stefanik graduated from the university in 2006.
"The decision by Harvard's administration to cower and cave to the woke Left will continue to erode diversity of thought," Stefanik wrote in a statement. "The Ivory Tower's march toward a monoculture of like-minded, intolerant liberal views demonstrates the sneering disdain for everyday Americans and will instill a culture of fear for students."

Diversity of thought? Nice.

Try respect for truth telling, honor, and decency.

Disdain for “everyday Americans”? Uh huh.

That’s what you demonstrate by lying to them and attaining power by their deception.
