Official US Soccer / World Cup '26 Thread (USA vs. Mexico 3/24 in Dallas)

McKenzie was pretty solid overall. It took him a bit to settle into the game (and team), but had a solid debut. Won his 1/1 defensive duel, 1/1 clearance, and 1/1 aerial battles. He’s completed 80% of his passes as well.

Aaron Long on loan to Liverpool seems to have legs. Makes sense for squad depth I guess but man is he a one dimension defender. He makes more sense on a team that sits and counters.

MLS may be headed to a lockout/work stoppage with the season not starting until May or June so 5 month loans for USMNT regulars who qualify for work permits (Morris already at Swansea, Arriola rumored to be going there too) makes sense.

Looks like DeAndre Yedlin has accepted an offer to leave Newcastle and join Galatasaray at the end of the season. His contract wasn't renewed.

Well, he can't even play atm because of work visa issues, apparently. https://readnewcastle.com/2021/01/25/newcastle-fans-rage-deandre-yedlin-work-permit-revelation.

Long sure seems like he'd be a better option than guys like Mustafi and Sokratis that Liverpool either looked into or signed. He's better than both of them.

Roma linked with FC Dallas' Bryan Reynolds for 8 mil -- Juve also reportedly interested

This Trini team is horrendous, but 2 goals in the first 10 is still pretty impressive.

I've enjoyed this destruction. Jesus Ferreira as a false 9 needs to be revisited against tougher opposition. Jonathon Lewis is recreating what Mueller did against EL Salvador. I really hope the Olympics qualifying and tournament go ahead. This is the best U23 cycle we've ever had, and that's not even counting Pulisic, Adams, McKennie, Dest, Reyna, Richards, Weah, Sargent and Hoppe.

Also Dabo in the house to watch his god son Tessman's USMNT debut.

Al the necessary caveats about it being T&T but it’s what you want to see from your B/C team in a friendly like this

and, optimistically, it points to some hope that Berhalter might have something going

So it looks as if we have...

Jordan Morris and Paul Arriola on loan at Swansea.

Darryl Dike on loan (with a hilarious option to buy) at Barnsley.

Chris Richards on loan to Hoffenheim.

Bryan Reynolds to Roma on loan with a permanent buy clause.

Deandre Yedlin to Galatasaray (with a good work visa in Turkey?).

Forgotten man Arda Bulut off to some third tier Turkey team.

Brandon Servania is currently in a trial with a SKN St. Polten. The Polish window is open for another week, FYI.

Also, Jozy is apparently trying to get loaned out as well.

are all these loans that cross into the start of the MLS season pointing toward an MLS lockout?

or does it just speak to an increasing demand for American players in Europe?

It's more the latter, but I think the former is certainly having an impact on team's willingness to loan out players with a chance to make some $$$

Brandon and Taylor Booth are now officially on loan to St. Poelten. Hopefully this will get them a little more European exposure, but I have no idea how one would go about watching these matches.

Jordan Morris gets his first start for Swansea in the FA Cup against Man City at 12:30 on ESPN+. Steffen starting in goal for City.

Great first touch and finish from Aaronson.
