I kind of feel bad because I’m a huge supporter of parental leave. But political appointees can’t assume they’re going to keep their job in a new administration. That’s just basic common sense.

She was either naive or lied to. But she should have understood that as a political appointee, her job and associated benefits can be terminated at any moment. And more importantly, when the president changes she most likely will be terminated when the president who appointed her leaves office.
