2022 races (and 2021 for weird commonwealths like Virginia)

I used to be happy to see right-wing Republicans retiring, as it often meant that the Democrats might have a chance to pick up the seat in many states, and at least one right-winger was gone. Now, however, it seems obvious that Blunt will simply be replaced by somebody even worse, and that's true in many of these deep red states. Democrats now seem to have no shot at winning in states like Missouri, and the people that are running seem to be ever more extreme and to the right compared to their predecessors. If Josh Hawley is any sign, Blunt's replacement will likely be a definite Qanon conspiracy touting fanatic.

In the 2012 Senate election-which was also a Presidential year-a Dem won MO, ND, IN, MT, and WV. Doesn't on its face seem that long ago, but the GOP becoming the party of Trump may have, for the foreseeable future, nationalized elections that used to be local. Hopefully one or more of these states will find their Stacey Abrams to turn things around before the vote in that state permanently suppressed by their Republican legislature.

In Georgia's new law, predominantly black precincts will be issued 8' tall jars filled with jellybeans. To vote you have to guess the total and the breakdown by flavor of jellybean. However, the state won't be providing the answers until the day after the election and only votes verified on election day will count.

What makes something a private citizen says an "official statement"? (Besides, of course, a knockoff presidential seal letterhead).

She doesn't care if the GOP doesn't want her. She won as a write-in last time and in AK the votes don't count unless you spell the name correctly.

I would have thought it was a joke if I didn’t see it posted by a Florida Republican legislator.

Democrats should use this against DeSantis in 2022 on all fronts. Argue to Republicans that DeSantis is attempting to disrupt Trump’s 2024 campaign. Argue to NPAs that DeSantis would only be running for President in his second term.

Has Fetterman explained why he's not running for governor?

Is that the same Fetterman who jumped in his truck with his shotgun (while he was the mayor) to chase down the unarmed black jogger?

Is Matty Gaetz your trolling for coeds bro? Might wanna be careful. Sombreros are not legal ID for confirming age of consent.

VA Dems had a debate today. It wasn't terribly interesting because the candidates generally did not respond to each other, rather, they took turns giving 60 second answers to the moderator's questions. However, Justin Fairfax responded to a question about George Floyd and policing by bringing up, unprompted, his sexual assault allegations and saying that everyone who called on him to resign treated him like George Floyd and Emmitt Till.

Charles Booker announced an exploratory committee to run for Senate against Rand Paul in 2022.
