2022 races (and 2021 for weird commonwealths like Virginia)

So current confirmed Republican candidates are Former Charlotte Mayor and NC Governor Pat McCrory and Current NC 06 US Rep Mark Walker. Lara Trump still pending, along with Lt Gov Mark Robinson, and Tedd Budd (NC-13), as well as possibly Dan Forest and Tim Moore.

Current declared Democrats include Jeff Jackson (NC Senator from Charlotte) Nutjob Erica D. Smith from PhDeac's HS alma mater and Northeastern NC, and a couple of nobodys. Pending is former Chief Justice of the NCSC, Cheri Beasley, who would be a strong challenger to Jackson. Others might include Heath Shuler, Associate Justice Anita Earls, and former Charlotte Mayor and US Secretary of Transportation Anthony Foxx.

I thought he was not like by the GOP

does he have a chance?

I don't know. The General Assembly was in power grab mode during his governorship so the was stripped of much chance to lead due to the GOP controlling both branches of the GA with a veto-proof majority. He looked like an idiot nationally through his suport of HB2, but that still plays well with morons statewide. He'll have plenty of support in Charlotte in the primary but would lose the county to Jackson in the general. Trump turned him down for a cabinet position. He's also the same age as Richard Burr.

his sister was my fifth grade teacher for about six weeks, so he should run on that

It will be funny seeing this come up in the GOP primary. Donald Trump thought you were worthless. The ultimate insult in today’s gop. Couldn’t happen to a douchier person though. HB2 was a national embarrassment.

Pat couldn't get re-elected when Trump was on the ballot how the hell does he think he can win on his own?

Of course. They all are. There will be no respectable gop candidate in this race particularly because they’re all going to try to be as Trumpy as possible.

Matthew McConaughey, who hasn't even announced, is ahead of incumbent Texas Governor Greg Abbott. He runs strongest among Democrats, but hasn't even announced his party affiliation.

I'm not usually a fan of Hollywood stars and other celebrities getting into politics and public office, but if McConaughey runs as a Democrat and won it might be worth it just to watch the GOP freak out about Texas going Democratic. Of course he hasn't even announced what party he belongs to yet. OTOH, we're probably stuck watching another unqualified Trump celebrity run for the Senate right here in NC, so screw it.

It would be even better if he ran as a Libertarian and stole enough votes from Abbott so a good Democrat candidate could win.

We need to expand the House. The founders certainly didn’t intend for one person in the people’s House to represent over 700,000 people in funky districts.

Set up districts with existing boundaries (cities, counties, zip codes) with approximately 100,000 people. The House grows with the country. Representatives work from their district. During sessions, they can send a set number of representatives from their state to go to DC and can alternate if they choose.

I look forward to Ph's Galactic Senate with 3,400 US Congressmen.

Agree that the Founding Framers didn't factor in that the US population would grow from 2.5 million in 1776 to 330 million+ today. That said, there is no chance that the House will be expanded as it would require bi-partisan support. There is a better chance that SCOTUS is expanded, but even that is unlikely to happen any time in the near future.
