2020-21 NCAA Men's Basketball Thread - Will the Zags Go Unbeaten?

Baylor all over the dribbler. No call. Touch foul the other way . Tweet.

Lol and here we go back. We need robot refs in all sports so bad. Humans suck.

Baylor played some great basketball tonight but they won this game in the weight room last summer.

The weight room is just one part of it. They're playing with more energy, playing more intelligent ball, and shooting better.

Zags will make a run and tighten it up. It'll be within 5 by the 10 min mark of second half.

Within 10 by the 5 min mark is still within reach.

Shooting is a big part of it. But the refs allowing bully ball is also part of it.

Oh FFS, Gonzaga lost by 16 and it probably shouldn’t have been that close.

Yep. Gotta agree with Charles Barkley on this one - Baylor was simply a (much) better team. This game was no fluke - if Gonzaga and Baylor played 10 times Baylor would likely win 8 or 9 of those games.

Gonzaga proved during the season that they were also a great team. Sometimes it comes down to matchups, and Gonzaga just didn't match up well to Baylor's gameplan and personnel.

Lots of Praise Jesus stuff from Scott Drew there postgame - at one point he apparently said they were playing for Jesus, Others, Yourself. I guess he's aiming to be the Dabo Swinney of college basketball.

Baylor played exactly like they did most of the year (the Covid break broke their stride a bit). A big question coming into this was whether or not the officials were going to let them play. It was apparent that they were early on, and that wasn't a good sign for Gonzaga. Baylor's relentless style on both ends of the floor will keep them in every game. But when the threes start raining down, you just aren't going to win. And Timme, as talented as he is, got abused down low on the boards by a shorter, less stoned version of Trelonnie Owens. He will be hitting the weight room in the offseason for sure.

Gonzaga does go out of their way to try and schedule a tough OOC schedule, but their conference schedule does not help them. Yes, they beat up a KU team that was terrible at the beginning of the season and inconsistent all year and an OU team that went limping into the tourney, but they didn't play a conference full of teams like that and play them twice over the course of the season with all the ebbs and flows. There is no way they'd go unbeaten in the Big XII this year, or probably any of the P5 conferences for that matter.
