Lady Deacs 2020

We're #43 in the NET ratings and firmly in the bubble, so we need to finish 3-1 or have a strong ACCT performance.

Here's something to keep an eye on. The Lady Deacs are 6th in the conference right now at 7-7. They need to pass FSU (6-5) and Cuse (8-5) to get to #4 and get a bye.

FSU (6-5) has five games left vs. Miami, Tech, Louisville, @ND, and Wake.
Cuse (8-5) has five games left vs. Louisville, @ND, @VT, BC, and State.

The Deacs could finish 3-1 with only a loss to #4 State and finish 10-8. If FSU finishes 2-3 and Cuse finishes 1-4, we would slip into the #4 spot.

As is, it looks like we would be #6 vs. #11 UNC which is somehow also on the bubble at 4-8. That game would probably be for the Big Dance.

UNC somehow managed to beat #1 State

3-1 should have us safely in. 2-2 would probably need a tourney win.

Up 20-14 over Clemson at the end of 1Q on ACC Network. Must win game.

Getting closer. Need to keep the pedal on the metal. Neither Wake basketball team is good at handling the press.

Weird finish. Clemson had a chance to cut it closer and just didn’t.

Big win for Hoover and the Deacs! Starting to establish position for the tournament.

Big win over another bubble team. Thursday at 7 vs. State is next. Root for Miami over FSU next.

Clemson is not a bubble team, 5-9 in the ACC. Our girls are now 8-7, 6th in the league with 2 teams in the top 4. No matter the outcome of the State game, the 2 after that get the Ladies their well earned ticket to the Dance.

I think 1-2 finish and a win in the ACCT gets us in still. Definitely 2-1

Let's beat NC State. We almost beat Louisville. Congrats to the Lady Deacs. Big win vs. Klempson.

Clemson was last four in #11 seed along with us in ESPN’s bracketology.

At this point we should be on the right side of the bubble. Our worst losses are to bubble teams and we have solid wins over Georgia Tech Florida state Missouri state and Virginia Tech is looking to become more more solid as the season progresses. 2 and 1 would add at least one more followed when to that grouping and should be a lock for us to get in the NCAA tournament.

Can somebody explain to me how Carolina could be ranked 10 spots higher on the net ratings than we are?

Quad 1 UNC 1-5 WFU 4-7
Q2: UNC 4-2 WFU 4-1
Q3: UNC 1-1 WFU 3-0
Q4: UNC 4-0 WFU 0-0
ROAD/NEUTRAL UNC 1-5 WFU 6-5

How is wake's resume not far superior?

A good question, from the data you displayed.

They beat a top 5 team and Syracuse when they were ranked. I have zero experience following women's basketball beyond knowing UConn is usually good, but it seems like there is always a massive gap between the top 5 teams and the rest of the nation and that it may hold significantly more weight to beat a top 5 team in women's hoops than it does in men's.

Using that logic if we to beat Louisville instead of lost to them by 2 at the buzzer we would be like 25 spots higher in the rankings.

Or beat State and lock in some respect but yes, even the women's game has crazy bias.
