Lady Deacs 2020

Is there really a chance of a bid if WF loses tomorrow? The Lady Deacs would be 12-12. Realize this year is unique, but has a .500 or below team ever received an NCAA at-large bid in either the men's or women's tournament?
Georgia did one year on the men's side as an at large.

I really would like to understand what metric the net rankings is using to have us as the 51st best team. We have 5 top 40 net wins. Our 2 worst losses are net 68 and 71 And 14 of our 23 games were either on the road or at neutral sites.

No they got in at 17-17 one year where they had a really tough schedule and a bunch of really good wins.

no - Jim Harrick got in at 16-14 and got bounced in the first round

ETA: that UGA team included Shon Coleman, former WF commit from Statesville who never made it to WF and went JUCO first. Those Dawgs also lost big to WF in December when WF was rolling. WF ended the season getting pounded by Maryland in the ACCT and then Butlerized.

During the men's game vs. VT, they had a graphic that showed VT (15-5) was #51 NET and projected to be a #6 seed. Right now, they're #45 NET and still projected to be a #6 seed.

Great day! Wake women beat u*NC-CH 82-71.

Congrats to Lady Deacs. Movin on in the ACC Tournament.

Sucks that UNC player has better balance than Jeff McInnis. Spear almost had a Childress crossover.

Congratulations to Jenn and the lady deacs. Hopefully, that's enough to get them to the big dance. It's always nice to beat the tar holes.

2008? They were 13-16 but won the SEC tournament on Georgia Tech's court, after a tornado hit the Georgia dome.

I was at the SEC tourney that day when the tornado hit. Pretty wild. It went right thru downtown Atlanta.

I was 6, but I was there as well. I was wearing a custom Sundiata Gaines jersey (a Josh Smith Hawks jersey with "Gaines" written on the back).

It would really stink if the only reason we didn't make the NCAA tournament is because sure wins against Coastal Carolina and Norfolk state were cancelled due to covid. The Ncaa should definitely take that into consideration this year.

Wake women need Jewel Spear to make the big two into a big three again today to have a decent shot at beating Louisville. Raca and Conti have been consistently good. The third (and fourth) women having good games will be key to win or loss.

The fact that experts had us on the bubble at 11-11 suggests they are.

Today's ESPN bracketology has us Last Four In with Mississippi St, Michigan St, and UCF. #11 seed vs. #6 SD St.

Miss St. (10-9) lost to LSU in the SEC Tournament yesterday. Michigan St. (12-7) hasn't played since a loss to #25 Rutgers last week. They have their last regular season game vs. Wisconsin tomorrow. UCF (14-3) beat #13 USF last night to end their regular season. The fact that we're on the same line as a 14-3 team suggests we're getting a lot of credit for the tough ACC schedule.

https://www.espn.com/espn/feature/story/_/id/30423107/women-bracketology-brackets-all-shapes-sizes

The First Four Out includes ND who lost to Clemson last night, BYU who lost to San Fran on Saturday, Miss who upset Arkansas in the SEC Tournament, and Seton Hall who starts the Big East Tournament this weekend.

Michigan state has 3 top 100 net wins And 1 top 50 net win. We have 5/10. I don't get how they would even be in the conversation with us unless quality wins aren't something that they are even looking at.

Literally one of our worst losses is roughly comparable to their 2nd/3rd best win. They have two wins over teams with above 500 record.

The Net rankings have lots of problems. On the men's side, Colgate is #9 (KP has Colgate at #93); yes, as in the NINTH BEST TEAM OUT THE 350+ Men's D1 college basketball teams. Colgate has only played Patriot League teams this year, and they are 11-1. While they have several blowout wins, the best win on their schedule is over #203 Army (who they also lost to). So, under the men's Net rankings Colgate, with ZERO top 200 wins, is better than Villanova, Florida State and West Virginia....

I guess if the Selection Committee follows the Net ranking Colgate will be either a #2 or #3 seed, and the Colgate Raiders and their 11-1 Patriot League mark are a lock to make the NCAAs if they are upset by someone like Bucknell or Navy in the Patriot League tournament. Not. In other words, the NCAA Selection Committee has to know that the Net rankings are seriously flawed.

Here is a link to the men's Net rankings: https://www.ncaa.com/rankings/basketball-men/d1/ncaa-mens-basketball-net-rankings

Yeah. See that our women and the VT men are NET ranked similarly and in completely different places in their projected fields.

Anybody else having trouble getting the game on the ESPN app? Down 17-10 at the end of the first. Nobody has more than 2 points. Conti has 5 reb, 3 to. The team is 2-9 from the field, 6-8 ft, 5 to. L'ville took 23 shots.

Update:
Down 22-20 with 4:47 left in the 2nd. Holding L'ville to 10-32 shooting. ACC POY Dana Evans is 1-9. They're in a bit of foul trouble as well.

We're getting the 50-50 balls and the boards are even.
