If the Democrats are unable to win the two Senate seats in Georgia and immediately pass a new Voting Rights Act, then Biden will simply be a gift for Republicans.
In Trump's 2016 "landslide" victory, he won 304 electoral votes in spite of losing the popular vote by almost 3 million. Republicans lost only two seats in the Senate and six in the House, with Trump winning only 46% of the national vote.
In Biden's 2020 "squeaker" victory, he won 306 electoral votes, the popular vote by nearly 7 million, and 51.3% of the national votes. In spite of this clear advantage, Democrats have picked up only three Senate seats so far, and lost nine House seats.
Perhaps most importantly, Republicans maintained control of most state houses. Now that SCOTUS has decided that partisan gerrymandering is OK, and the VRA can no longer prevent discriminatory gerrymandering, we can expect Republican controlled states to be gerrymandered to an even greater degree than in 2010. This effectively ends democracy in these states.
Winning the two Senate seats from Georgia and passing a new VRA prevents the collapse of our system. Otherwise, Republicans will further gerrymander states, obstruct everything Biden attempts, and blame him for the country collapsing. Republican gains in 2022 will be massive.
