Impeachment: The Sequel

Is this serious?

It’s an official statement by Twitter.

“Plans for future armed protests have already begun proliferating on and off-Twitter, including a proposed secondary attack on the US Capitol and state capitol buildings on January 17, 2021.”

The idiot’s second civil war, brought to you by trump and depends (when you just need a little extra support)!

See, people are willing to put the massive mistakes of past leaders aside once a few years have past. And the time line for the rehabilitation will be waaaay shorter for Trump, for a lot of voters, because we have media outlets like Fox and OAN ready to to start praising the man. Jesus, several main stream news outlets are already praising his "new tone" just 24 hours after he told a bunch of treasonous revolutionaries that he loved them and that he sympathized with their feelings.

It really says something about just how horrifically awful Trump has been - and after the past few days he will definitely go down as the worst POTUS of all time - that George W. Bush has undergone a kind of rehabilitation in part because of him. Dubya was also a terrible POTUS, from the Patriot Act to No Child Left Behind to his response to Hurricane Katrina to, of course, getting us into the Iraq War on faulty intelligence (or at least that was the excuse) and then having no real game plan once we took the country from Hussein and the insurrection/guerilla war started. And that's without mentioning the record budget deficits and economic meltdown at the very end of his term. He was god-awful - it's just that Trump has been that much worse.

And I agree completely about Trump - people have short memories. Give it a year with a Democratic POTUS and right-wing media portraying every Biden move and mistake as a mortal threat to the country, and many Republicans will already be fondly looking back at Trump. "Well, he did incite a riot in a clear attempt to overthrow the government, but at least he didn't drive up the budget deficit and cut student debt and support ghey rights and pander to AOC and Bernie and the anti-American Radical Left! Trump never did any of those awful things!" You know it's coming.

My reading of it was not that twitter was implying trump was making plans, but that because plans were being made (without him, presumably) that there was a high risk that his account could be used to incite further violence.

There is no reason not impeach him and there is every reason to do it. There cannot be zero consequences for a president that incites a riot to try and stop the electoral college vote certification against him.

Correct statement, there needs to be some punishment for his actions including his illegal threat to the Georgia Sec of State earlier this week.

LOL. Democrats can sign petitions too.

It’s not underestimating Trump. It’s overestimating Republicans.

In this case the difference is irrelevant. This is about the influence and power that Trump wields over the Republican Party and whether they will nominate and elect him again. Whether I underestimate Trump’s power or over estimate Republican integrity the outcome is still the same. The man needs to be neutralized. We have no mechanism to neutralize the entire GOP just some of the most obvious and extreme individuals.

Question: If he can't run for office, does that dry up his possible campaign donations? As long as he can run, he can grift and hold weekly rallies for 4 years. What about if he can't run?

Along those lines is barring him from running only related to federal offices?

Or does it include state elections? I'm sure how that would be possible.

Oh, that's rich. The "ruling party"? Right.
What a schmuck.
(Followed by another schmuck.)

I appreciate that you are still around this echo chamber but you have a lot of nerve calling someone a schmuck on this topic.
