The Filibuster - Kill It for the Good of Democracy

There are definitely others. But it doesn’t seem like the filibuster fight is strictly on progressive/moderate lines.

Yep. And this is hardly a surprise - there's plenty of people who have been pointing this out for years now. The GOP doesn't care about anyone outside their base because they've discovered they can still win majorities via maximizing their vote, suppressing the opposition vote, and extreme gerrymandering in the House and state legislatures. Basically 35 to 40 percent of American voters can not only control, but dominate, the US Government and many state governments and just ignore the wishes and will of the other 60 to 65 percent. And if Democratic Senators aren't willing to stop it while the Dems still have a House majority, Democrats may well be a powerless minority in Congress for a long, long time. But at least Manchin and Sinema can rest easy knowing that they saved their precious filibuster.

Moscow Mitch wouldn't hesitate to throw out the filabuster.

Of course. And either Manchin and Sinema know this and don't care, or they're gullible idiots. Either way it's not a good look - not that they care at all. Manchin has apparently been living it up as the new center of bipartisan attention on his house boat, throwing parties and dinners for his new GOP buddies.

Mitch McConnell is APPALLED that Democrats want to pass voting rights legislation with a majority vote like red states are doing.

It's pretty amazing that ending the filibuster has gone from a political third rail issue that even Bernie didn't support to Biden giving a speech about ending the filibuster within a few years. 2022 Democratic candidates are going to campaign on ending the filibuster.

LOL - Dems used the filibuster over 300 times during the 2019-2020 congressional term including using this "Jim Crow tactic" to block Sen. Tim Scott's justice reform bill
