Wake Baseball 2021 | Cusick (1st) + Fleming, Seymour, Menendez, Muntz Drafted

Bump to top... do we know starting pitchers for each day this weekend? Assume Cusick Fri guy?

Cusick and Menendez were in competition to be the Friday starter. Whichever one isn't will be Saturday, and then Will Fleming will be Sunday starter.

I'll have an in-depth preview posted/emailed out tomorrow morning from the Substack.

So pumped! All 3 this weekend available to watch. With fewer away OOC games, basically every game should be easily watchable this season.

I realize that fact. It has seemed stupid for decades.

Not really sure what a better option is though. The season already ends in the middle of the summer which isn’t great for a college sport.

Northeastern's Kyle Murphy v. WF's Ryan Cusick today at 4 pm.

FWIW, Cusick throws in the upper 90s (he's 6-6 225), and is expected to follow Jared Shuster as an MLB first-round draft pick. Last year, Cusick struck out 43 batters in 22 innings and didn't give up a HR (yet somehow didn't come away with a W in any of his 4 starts).

Tomorrow, William Fleming (he was a weekend starter last year) gets the nod on the mound.

WF's third starter Antonio Menendez is out this weekend; so, red-shirt Shane Smith starts on Sunday.

Here's a link to the Northeastern at WF game notes: https://godeacs.com/documents/2021/2/18//WF_BASE_Notes_Northeastern_2.pdf?id=10622

Cusick looks ready for the MLB draft. He's a beast. 6'6"; throws gas (up to 101;; sits in the upper 90s); control; and a solid curveball.... Really impressive.

BTW, they said on the broadcast that WF has 11 pitchers that throw 95+. That is ridiculous.

Agreed. He looks great. It’s so nice to have someone throwing strikes at that speed.

5-0 good guys middle 5th

Cusick walked a couple batters and then got out of it

100+ pitches for the first outing of the year seems like waaaay too much.

Cusick has to have somebody give him the Crash Davis speech. Strikeouts are fascist; throw groundballs, they're more democratic.
