2021 College Basketball Coaching Carousel

Nate James has been an assistant at Duke longer than Davis has been at UNC. James is going to Austin Peay and Davis is the frontrunner for the UNC job. Doesn’t quite make sense right?

Woah, Shay out at ETSU. His players think it is because he supported them kneeling. Wonder if Forbes will give him a look here

Yeah at what point do we know whether Forbes is good moving forward with Childress continuing to be on his staff? I got the sense it was a sort of tryout but maybe that’s not right. Or maybe it was, and he passed. But we know Forbes won’t settle in any area so if he sees an assistant coach upgrade opportunity he could take it, especially for someone with whom he’s familiar.

Stephen A was going off on Lavell Moton as his candidate for UNC today. Not the craziest thought in the world and a Hell of a better choice than Stackhouse but will never happen at the Hill. That could be a great hire for them.

Haven't been paying much attention to NC Central but just realized that Moton has had a slight regression the past few years. Nonetheless, his league record is still really good.

But like you said, UNC won't make that hire. Won't be surprised if he gets other looks though.

Moton is kind of like Wes in that you'd expect he would have left for a better offer by now.

who are we kidding, all the dookies are all a bunch of ball sacks.

Prosser coached 3 years at WCU:

- 2019 7-25 (team was talent shy after a coaching change)
- 2020 19-12 (major improvement in a deep SoCon won by Forbes at ETSU)
- 2021 11-16 (pre-season pick to finish in the top 3 or 4; finished 9 out of 10; talent moving on)

Think Prosser felt he was another bad year (which seemed likely) from losing his job; so, he jumped at the Winthrop job to reset his career. Coaches generally don't leave the SoCon voluntarily to take a Big South job. While Winthrop has been good for a long time, the Big South conference is weak, and those schools generally lack the resources that SoCon schools have. Hope Prosser does well at Winthrop (they are used to winning), but this move isn't exactly a step up the career coaching ladder.

Wonder if WCU would consider Jason Shay. He did a solid job at ETSU last year, and he obviously knows the conference.
