Wake Golf 2024 - Women’s ACC Tournament April 18-21; Men's ACCT April 19-22

Mark Power shot 68 in the 2nd round of the US Am. So, far the tied for the low round of the day. He currently sits at even par -- 13th overall, and will make the match play round. Unfortunately, Michael Brennan shot two of his worst rounds of the year, and finished at +11. A snowman on the Par 5 17th at Ridgeway ended all hope for a late rally. Both courses playing tough: 312 player field, and only 12 players under par.

US Am is down to 8. One of the quarterfinalists is Alex Price Al D3 golfer from Christopher Newport in VA. First D3 player to advance this far in more than30 years

And still anchoring.

That said, go Mid Ams!

Yeah, how is that allowed? What, is there like a millimeter between the top of his putter shaft and his chest that the naked eye just can't see?

Regardless, what he's been able to accomplish is pretty wild at his age.

Wake women win the Annika Invitational which is the top College Fall event. Great start to what can be a very special year.

Lady Deacs are 2 for 2 as WF just came from behind to win the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate in Knoxville. WF entered the day trailing UVA by 6 shots and UCF by 4 shots, but the Ladies shot the low round of the day to win by 3 shots.

Rachel Kuehn finished 2nd overall, and Carolina Lopez-Chacarra finished 4th. Lady Deacs are loaded and contenders for the Natty.

Right now Stanford and Wake are one and two and well ahead. The interesting thing about the Annaka and Mercede is Wake went into the final round of each tournament 7 and 9 strokes back and won comfortably. Stanford is probably the greatest stroke team in college golf ever but in matchplay I like Wake’s chances based on Kim’s ability to place players in the right spot during match play her gift… Girls are getting their ACC Championship rings Saturday at 9AM at the AP Golf Complex

It's early, but a rough start to the season for the Deacon men in California

First hole of the event, Brennan birdies, the other four players:

  • Triple
  • Triple
  • Double
  • Bogey

Guess Brennan didn't get the message to start out the season slow. FWIW, after tripling the first hole, Scotty Kennon is two under for his round and in 3rd place overall

Wake men will likely struggle this year…elite talent isn’t 4 deep like the women. NCAA appearance is not a guarante.

Kennon and Brennan finish -2 (in the top 10). Kennon shoots a 70 with two 7s.

Cool that they've gotten a lot of TV time at least.

Sosa's round was insane. 3 eagles no bogeys for a 61. As a freshman. Best round in Texas history I think.

I'm definitely tuning in to watch our women and Stanford come NCAA time.

Brennan in the clubhouse with the lead after a great finish. Time to tune to Golf Channel and root against the field.
