Wake Golf 2024 - Women’s ACC Tournament April 18-21

Tough day for the guys...between the 5 players they had 6 double bogies and 3 triples and they're in 10th place, 36 strokes out of first. Women doing better currently in 3rd at the Annika two strokes out of second (Duke) and 9 strokes out of first (South Carolina).

Men's team continues to puzzle me...nobody playing well this week.

This is great news for the women's team. Looking at a lineup of Kuehn, Walsh, Chacarra, Rhodes, and now Migliaccio. I think Knecht will still have another year of eligibility because of the covid season too.

Cam Young is currently tied for the lead at this week's PGA Event (Sanderson Farms) in MS. Also, Will Z is in 4th, and Kyle Reifers who was a Monday qualifier, and hasn't played a tour even in a long time is 25th.

Having Will and Cam tied for the lead is really cool

Good God Will Z with the mic drop 61 today. Hello.

Deac Michael Brennan is crushing a stacked field at the Colonial Collegiate Championship in Fort Worth (same course where they play the PGA Colonial). In a field that includes Stanford, OK State, OK, Texas, Pepperdine, Clemson, Florida among others, Brennan is lapping the field at -12. Second is -5 and only 7 players are under par. With a couple of holes left in the third and final round, WF sits in third (WF led after round 1), behind Stanford and OK.

The Deacon men just finished their first tourney of the Spring Semester at the Southwestern Invitational in California -- hosted by Pepperdine and playing in a stacked field. The event was televised on Golf Channel. WF finished 5th among 12 teams, and Michael Brennan finished 2nd overall, while Alex Fitzpatrick finished 18th: https://godeacs.com/news/2022/1/26/mens-golf-deacs-pass-three-teams-in-final-day-of-southwestern-invitational.aspx

The Wake Forest women play their first Spring Semester tourney February 6-8 in Orlando. The women are currently ranked 6th nationally in Golfstat rankings; the men are 14th.

Not too shabby for three of them not playing as good as their usual game.

Migliaccio was doing color commentary on the Golf Channel broadcast, so guessing she ended up not coming back, and isn't listed on the roster anymore either.

Pretty sure the plan all along is for her to come back next fall and play the 2022-23 season (so next fall/spring.)

Have we heard why she is taking the hiatus?

I don't think she planned on it being a "hiatus". She pretty much said she was done with competitive golf after her last season, especially at a professional level. And then after being away from it a little bit, it sounds like she decided she could have fun playing college golf another year. It also sounds like she still has no desire to play professionally, but maybe that decision is what freed her up to be more comfortable playing college/amateur golf going forward.

Glad Migs is returning to competition for Wake. Hope she has fun and can enjoy the game. At its core, all sports are play.

Would be great if she came back and won it all. Think she's capable of doing that.
