2021 MLB Season Thread

Only way LA trades for Max is if he is willing to sign an extension. No way we give up top prospect(s) for 6 weeks of service.

Do the Dodgers want to go back to back or not? Because with Bauer apparently done for the season, they need a front-line starter if they want to win the W-S.

So the Mariners bullpen got better upgrading from Kendall Graveman to Diego Castillo and the future of the infield got better upgrading from Austin Shenton to Abraham Toro.

Cool cool cool. Tight tight tight.

Rizzo to the Yankees.

At least we have two more lefty bats now, but damnit we're going to lead the league in Ks.

Mets fail to sign 1st round pick Kumar Rocker.

Dispute over condition of his elbow and shoulder. Kumar had some leverage as he has guaranteed income if he returned to Vandy through NIL rights.

We will know about the elbow in 6-9 months.

Matt Wisler just threw 23 straight sliders to get a save against the Red Sox. Wisler was terrible, beyond awful, for the Braves and has been bad for a while. Then, all of the sudden, he's dominant in Tampa. Figures.

Dodgers sign Cole Hamels.

Cy Young's corpse is also available.

LA is really thin in the pitching department right now thus the move for Scherzer. Him, Walker Buehler, and Julio Urias are the only healthy starters right now. David Price has been being built up to start but counting on him is a fools errand as he always finds a way to get hurt again. Dodgers can stay in hunt and make playoffs but can't see them catching SF to win division.

If Kershaw, Gonsolin, and Duffy can get healthy enough by playoffs we might can make some real noise, although our pen (which we didn't address at deadline) will likely loose it for us.

New-look Braves lineup is pretty solid. With Ynoa and d'Arnoud potentially returning soon they look to have a pretty good shot at the East.

Not exactly 2021, but Astros great J. R. Richard died at age 71. He had a ten year career, all with the Astros, that was ended by a stroke in 1980.

RIP.

Not sure where to put this, and don't think we need a Little League thread, but the Little League regional tournaments just started, and already, 4 teams have been DQ'd for COVID, including the North Carolina team (from Greenville). It appears that the Little League has adopted the policy that if any player or coach tests positive the entire team is eliminated from competing. Only a couple of the regionals have started; so, more will likely to come. Also, there is no international component this year.

Sox unis are better than the Yanks.

Sox uniforms are sick.

Like what they did with the Yankees uniforms - kept it true to the historical look and feel. Keep in mind Yankees uniforms have barely changed in the past 100 years.
