2021 MLB Season Thread

O's need an owner who will spend more than my pocket change to get or keep some good players.

O's spent when they were good in early to mid decade. They had top 10 payroll when they won the most games between 2012 and 2015. No reason to spend now to lose 5 less games.

Going into today, the Cards had won 11 straight and had taken the first 3 games of a 4 game series at Central leader Milwaukee. Milwaukee led 5-1 in the 7th, and then the Cardinals exploded for 6 runs over the next two innings, and STL now leads 7-5 headed to the 9th.

In ten days, either the 100+ win Dodgers or the 100+ win Giants will face having their season end in one game against a Cardinals team that has forgotten how to lose.

Also, Max Scherzer's scoreless earned run streak ended today at Coors Field as the Rockies hung 5 runs on Max in 5 innings.

Phils go down 6-0 in the top of the 3rd as Nola forgot how to pitch again. No problem, he remembered and Phils win 12-6.
Not the way to draw it up, but I'll take it.

They can't really afford to lose any more before they go to Atlanta. It's win this crappy division or go home. I love this game.

Brandon Belt broke his thumb this weekend. Big loss for the Giants.

Mariners keep pushing the rock. Only 1.5 games out of the 2nd WC spot.

Longest playoff drought in North American sports hangs in the balance. M's haven't qualified for the playoffs since 2001. Would love to see Seattle get in.

M’s have a -50 run differential. It’s crazy how much they’ve outperformed their expected win total (73). +15 wins over their Pythagorean expectation has to be one of the biggest spreads ever

They are a major league best 33-18 in one run games and they are 14-7 in games that go extra innings. When they lose, they tend to lose by a lot. They have lost games 16-1, 12-3, 15-1. 11-2, and 14-1. They also don't appear to have the bats to blow people out very often winning only two games by more than six runs.

Brewers stud reliever Devin Williams broke his right hand (his pitching hand) punching a wall after the Brewers clinched the NL Central last weekend... Big loss.

Dumbass. Crash Davis does not approve. FFWD to 3:12

We need to talk more about the FUN differential.

Really hope the M's make it. After tonight, the M's finish with the Angels. Jays finish with Orioles (who they pummel). The Red Sox finish with the Nats (who have the worst record in the NL since the ASB). While the Yankees finish with Tampa (who have nothing to play for, but probably are motivated to eliminate the Yankees).

If Robbie Ray (AL Cy Young favorite) beats the Yankees tonight, and the Red Sox beat the Orioles, one game will separate the Yankees, Red Sox, Jays and M's, heading into the weekend. Would love to see a 4 way tie after Sunday. Definitely possible.
