Would you call a kid with Down syndrome a Downs kid?

Edit to add: People should be able to define themselves however they want. But it’s most respectful for others to not make presumption on whether people want to be defined by their disorder/syndrome/disease.

So then why are you telling me specifically how to refer to the student that I teach on a daily basis and you don't know?

Yeah I am pretty sure the weight loss from fasting is simply most people not eating as much because they have less time to eat. No random 10am snacks, no late night cookies, etc... Less calories in

Well, at the end of the day, this did cause me to reevaluate terminology and the impact of how I refer to different groups of people. And more importantly, it taught me to avoid interacting with DD. So I grew today. Thanks CT.

Chat Thread 2023: Only Fans Link in Bio

I usually do not eat until about 10 am and I have never been one to snack. My norm seems to be intermittent fasting. Pre-Covid I used to bounce around the 170s. Weighed myself for the first time in almost a year. 184. I could dunk pre-covid. Not now. My drinking exploded with quarantine.

Actually, I would like DD's perspective, and the rest of the CT's opinion, on how I, as a nearly 40 year old white dude, should handle reading aloud the dialect of Zora Neal Hurston's "Their Eyes Were Watching God", when I start that book next week.

Seems like it all needs to incorporate CI<CO one way or another

yeah, i suppose the intermittent fasting and other tricks are designed to improve the calorie out efficiency, which seems to be highly genetically influenced and a bit of a black box, so I guess I was unfair in the criticism, though tilt's study supports my suspicion

DD (the other one) is often salty and sarcastic, which I enjoy.

Yo Juice, you see the Stockton Basic Income study dropped? I was gonna post about it on the politics board when I get some time.

Tubbs got voted out

we were actually working him on a housing project idea in Stockton that included early childhood education

it will be interesting to see where he lands

edit: I misunderstood what you meant by "dropped" -- I did not see that -- good looking out!

I need to dig in but looks super positive. Biggest criticism levied by reasonable conservative types are concerns for work disincentives, but this showed literally the opposite. People who got the cash were more likely to have full time work. I never bought the work disincentive thing to a meaningful degree, but good to have more data to fight back.

Holy shit I am not touching that.

Seems like a no win, no matter what you try.
