Roy Williams retiring?

If it is Davis, I'm gonna feel a bit worse about it if he brings Miller on. That would make more sense from a bench perspective with a clear succession plan in place.

No way. Roy said Fuck it you sniveling babies. Hubert is only 50, he isn't warming the seat for small town Wes.

Agreed. Cunningham is looking for someone to keep a long-term stability and continuity to the recruiting program at UNC, and he believes that to be Hubert Davis. If they're trying to keep heading in the direction that Roy Williams established, then there's an argument to be made for this move.

We'll see how it works out. Their pain is our gain.

Hubert said all the right things in the press conference. We will see if he is the right man for the job. How many years do they truly give him?

Hopefully, Hubert will show the same head coaching abilities as he has shown over the past two years as the Heel's designated "Shot Doctor". The Heels shooting, for which Hubert has been primarily responsible, has been atrocious recently and the primary reason for their 32-30 record for the last two years. Lets hope this translates over to his head coaching duties.

The best part of this long thread is the "Donnie Greensboro" reference

Hubert catching heat for bringing up his white wife at presser.

I get trying to poke DR, but that's not true. Wes was the runner up for WF and probably UNC too. He's going to get a Power Conference job. Do think that Wes was less open to going all out for other more distant Power Conference jobs in recent years with the thought that WF and UNC were going to come open.

This was 100% accurate.

The other way to look at it is Wes was the runner up for the only two jobs where his name carries some weight and neither will likely become available soon.

DePheated.

When did Wes get a power conference job?! Cincinnati is in the AAC.

Don’t get me wrong... it is a good job, Wake was better (especially with Brannen’s impact on the roster), and pretty clearly we picked Forbes over Miller... or Miller made a strategic mistake in withdrawing (and / or Roy gave him bad advice).
