What rounds will Boogie, Sage, & Newman get drafted?

Seeing Sage go undrafted really reminded me of Dortch. Sage is one of the best players I can remember watching at Wake and I’m bummed we never got to see him achieve what he should have, which is probably a late 2nd early 3rd round selection.

It's just really weird that he was being graded as a 2nd or 3rd round pick before he sat out and then laid an egg at the senior bowl and ran the 40 hurt and it knocked him out of the draft. Newman, I get. Super hyped and then flaked out on two teams. Sage isn't a character issue, clearly could play when healthy and has great size. Maybe he wasn't really hurt and they just put that out there to cover for the terrible 2021. I feel bad for him and hope he proves everyone wrong.

gonna be awkward when Sage has to hit his bro up for a loan. kidding aside, I hate it for him. His path to a long(or even medium length) NFL just got 100 times harder than if he had been a 3rd or 4th round pick. When he opted out, I understood but just felt his brother was making a much better choice . And that the dollar difference between those two choices is several million.

Has got to feel pretty dumb to spend your whole life playing a game and then opt out of playing the last meaningful football you'll ever play to "prepare for a draft" in which you don't get drafted.

The NFL does send mixed messages about the importance of playing vs. working out. But yeah. Leaving early and not playing after an injury shortened season doesn't really show love for the game.

Well the John Abbate cautionary tale didn't work. The Dortch cautionary tale didn't work. Maybe these cautionary tales will work. Newman is what it is. But Sage is just strange. His brother stayed in and worked his way into being a 2nd round pick. I don't think it's about people in his ear.

Fauci on speed dial? But at least he avoided a bad case of the sniffles while he watched millions of dollars and a much easier pro career pass him by.

On the other hand, a Clemson player lost millions of dollars and a chance at any career at all when he got COVID.

Did Sage at least graduate from Wake? If he opted out AND didn't get his Wake Forest degree that would solidify it as one of the worst decisions in our sports history.

Clawson tweeted that Sage will graduate this month with a degree in economics.

knew he was an Econ major but didn't see that he was graduating. I couldn't find that tweet from claw. hope it's true.

Do you say this because a GM is more likely to invest time in a 4th round pick than a UFA?

Because otherwise the way to look at it is his path to big money got a lot longer, but if he can prove he can play as a UFA, he’ll play but just for a smaller initial salary, and if he can’t, he wasn’t going to make it very long as a 4th rounder anyway.

So then Sage chose wisely?

If he chose not to play because of Covid concerns, it was a choice I can understand completely. Who knows? For him it may have been Covid concerns coupled with the fact that he was still retiring from injury, and that was the difference between he and his brother.

Covid is definitely more than a few sniffles, and at the point he was making the choice there was so much we didn't know. I cannot fault Sage for his choice just as I don't fault Boogie for his choice. It was an impossible situation and everyone had to make the best decision that they could.

If you're asking, do I think being signed as undrafted free agent is a better outcome than never playing football again, well then yeah. Of course.

What’s the last Wake skill position player drafted?

Camp, Bohannon, Givens.

Haynes and Herron are the only Clawson offensive recruits to get drafted.

All the SCIENCE says if you're Sage's age and healthy, the flu is more dangerous than covid. He made an awful choice and it cost him a big pay day. I partially blame all the coronabros in the media who were hyping the panic porn

Might want to listen to some of that and read up on some athletes who have lingering complications because of covid, which doesn’t really happen with the flu. That or we should just give you the 73deac treatment and treat you as the dumbass you are.
