What rounds will Boogie, Sage, & Newman get drafted?

Yet the reason covid deaths weren’t higher among college students was because universities and sports programs made adjustments in line with the SCIENCE and “panic porn.”

And again, several top picks opted out so er can’t say it was just that. Hell, Sage was one of Kiper’s best available for all of Day 3. Sage’s horrible Pro Day hurt him more than opting out.

Covid deaths among healthy young adults are incredibly low across the country, not just among colleges.

Your second point I will acquiesce too and agree that you are correct on. I think it is partially a by product of not being pushed like you are when you're in season. In season and off season training are two very different things especially if you're training alone.

The top 2 players across all of football most hurt by sitting out were probably our two guys.

This Deacon fandom thing is a wild ride.

All the SCIENCE says if you're Sage's age and healthy, the flu is more dangerous than covid. He made an awful choice and it cost him a big pay day. I partially blame all the coronabros in the media who were hyping the panic porn

Care to share that science?

Nope. Those articles don’t back up your claim. Also, fucking newspaper articles? That’s not science.
Covid is not nearly the threat for younger people as it is for older. I also would like our (especially younger) kids to be in school. But making up your facts isn’t helpful. It’s dangerous

If the decision were a) play football and risk getting Covid vs b) not play football and guarantee no Covid in your life, then I would completely understand opting out. The reason the opting out made zero sense to me was because the decision was a) play football and risk getting Covid vs b) not play football and risk getting Covid.

Your link is from October. Your assertion that flu is more dangerous than COVID for children is incorrect.

On an average year in the US, about 200 children die from the flu. This year, only 1 child has died from the flu in the US, which is absolutely incredible (incidentally, this shows the power of public health measures in preventing the spread of respiratory illnesses, namely, distancing, handwashing, and masks.)

This year, 277 children age 0 to 17 years have died from COVID, and 844 people age 15-24 years have died from COVID. So this year, the risk of dying from COVID vs flu for a male college student is around 700 to 1. In addition, as others have mentioned, COVID can cause long-term health problems that we do not typically see with the flu. Finally, Sage made his decision just a few weeks after former FSU basketball player Michael Ojo collapsed and died after an arrhythmia after having COVID - there were a lot of unknowns at that time, and there still are.

Has got to feel pretty dumb to spend your whole life playing a game and then opt out of playing the last meaningful football you'll ever play to "prepare for a draft" in which you don't get drafted.

Pretty wild to think about that. I hope that in the future when kids are on the fence, they decide to return and continue to work on their game. I can’t think of a single guy it’s worked out for, other than Bates who has been incredible.

We had a basketball player lose the whole season because of lingering Covid issues. When is the last time a player in any sport in any league (professional or college) lost an entire season because of the flu? Serious question.

I have no idea if this had been said, but Sage not getting drafted had mostly to do with his terrible 40-time and also because there are bigger/stronger/faster WRs and TEs in the league who can run routes like Sage. He just wasn’t going to get drafted high/at all if teams were concerned about his inability to battle/get behind elite defenders.

Also, I’ve got a client whose 25 y/o son had a stroke due to a blood clotting issue shortly after testing positive for Covid last May. Get out of here with that nonsense that the flu is more dangerous to young people than Covid. That’s crazy talk.

Newman is already the Eagles 3rd QB with the signing, and their 2nd is Joe Flacco. If Hurts ends up being a disaster, I'd imagine Newman would be given opportunities at the end of the season over Flacco assuming Newman shows them something in practice.

This is the first time that I can tell in my Wake/Eagles fandom history that the Eagles have had a Deacon.

The conclusions people draw are always amusing.

I would like to hear Sage and Jamie answer whether they think they made the right decision. I am rooting for both, although if I’m being honest it’s a lot easier for me to root for Sage.

That is absolutely meaningless. They’ll cut his ass in a heartbeat and sign a capable backup on the day of the last cuts.
